i like your server, but damn you really really need to update your plugins and benefit from multi threading in new version of minecraft. You really need to update it your server. its stuck in past and will never ever get many players till you update it. Please just update your server, may break few plugins that our custom, but custom for a reason because you can update them and fix them yourselfs.
We're working on it! It's more complicated than just updating plugins -- there are a lot of mechanics on our rides that still use vanilla commands and old ways of doing things that are partially dependent on bugs/weird behavior in 1.12 -- it's a long, tedious process to make sure that by updating we don't need to close too many of our rides and experiences! Updating the plugins is the easy part, making sure we aren't degrading the guest experience on our ~150 attractions is the hard part (and something that we've deprioritized in favor of making new guest experiences like Achievements, giving our team more tools to work with to increase their creativity, etc)! RE Multithreading: We've done a lot in-house to overcome the singlethreaded nature of our current Minecraft version -- we basically made our own version of 1.20's display entities six years ago in order to have entity ticking run on a separate thread; this enables us to have tens of thousands of mostly static armorstands while only having ~5-10k entities loaded by the server. We schedule our commands as asynchronously as we can using our in-house command scheduling language, ShowScript (github.com/MCParks/ShowScript), as another example. We're actually not really bottlenecked by the main server thread these days!
@@Ryan_Hecht that really good hear. Hopefully eventually it will update to latest version. But good to hear you have made your own multithreaded plugin. 😄
Yeah! For most of our technicians, this is their first time doing any kind of programming! It's really important to me that getting started is as easy as possible :)
@@sammypanda If you can understand ShowScript and have a decent understanding of vanilla Minecraft commands, we can teach the rest! We're mostly looking for an ability to learn and think technically; we can teach the rest!
@@Ryan_Hecht i've been interested in building the Australian Warner Brothers Movie World, just as a casual, on the side thing for me to do. To me it makes sense for it to be done with McParks tools so it *could* be hosted there, since i have no intention of reinventing the wheel + hosting a public server. But, i assume that's not my decision to make and there would need to be a ton of admin stuff like figuring out scale or adhering to certain design/art/performance constraints, best practices and/or maybe tools i don't have access to or issues with integrating it. Ideally, i could just use all the McParks tools at my own pace, and when i'm somewhat satisfied just give it to McParks to deploy (in the server's own sandbox mode would be super cool, but i doubt that's feasible or designed for actual full-on parks). Most of these issues are just because i've never asked. But consider this me asking if it's possible for me as an individual to create my own park and have it be integrated/supported + what the requirements would be. Obviously i wouldn't want all that work to be stuck on McParks and die with McParks, so it would also depend on if the end-product would be able to be downloaded/re-used. Anyway thanks for responding :)
