council and other related authority: we call it moving with the times, progression and well-being general public: we call it destroying a once fuctional town with rural sights and some outstanding buildings, public transport that worked and didnt bail out at 10 bays (north gate bus station) and not 1 but 3 train stations (st johns street and bridge street), high street shops that were practicle and of course a thriving market.
..absolutely fascinating watching people walk to work ..wow the 85 bus + 53 bus still run today as am sure the 192 bus may of done, ..this is what schools and colleges should be learning our kids this is education ...🙂
That takes me right back! I was born in Bletchley in 1970. I recognise all those places, my Grandparents lived in Woughton On The Green in 1976. Great days, sadly missed.
Excellent vid ... but ... what an opportunity missed. All u had to do was add all the popular 1950's songs to the sountrack, and u wd have had a winner ....
@@autumn5852 Stupid reply. They added a soundtrack, so they know how to do it. They just failed to understand that a soundtrack should enhance the video - not just be random added noise ...
A lot of this reminds me of how Brighton still was in the eighties. I think change really started in the nineties and then with City status of Brighton and Hove from 2000 onwards. It’s still a great place and more character has been retained than lost over the years.
I love these videos. I've lived in Brighton my entire life, and even though a lot has changed, much hasn't. It's quite nice to see after most people complaining about how bad it is now. The beachfront is still great. The laines are still great. The Pavillion hasn't changed much at all. There are still hippies and musicians on the walkways. The vibe is very much still there.
Moved from Islington to Stevenage grew up in Archer Road Pin Green. The shops King Pin pub and community centre was still being built. Webb Rise and on to st nick’s didn’t exist. Fairlands valley Lakes was a farm. Moved away in 87 was shocked on one visit back to see the shops gone as well as my first local the old Pin had some good times in there late 70s early 80s. Best thing as a kid was the cycle paths playing for Fairland Youth FC happy days
Into my heart, an air that kills. From yon far county blows. What are those blue remembered hills? What towns, what spires are those? That is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain. The happy highways where I went. Can never come again. My hometown, the town I still love. In 1963 the year I was born. I now live in Cornwall, far away from a town that is not even a shadow of it's once thriving self.
