What? I am so confused, so they have a nuclear reactor, dark matter, making fuel? why out in space? what is the fuel for? where are they going? sling shooting a satellite? a meteor headed to Earth? What is this about? there is just so much context being thrown at me and i don't experience anything actually happening, just people talking about stuff for most of the film. It doesn't set up, build and pay off one story, any story, just loads of space and science stuff told to me. Also, you can't just show me the guys family on a monitor and make me care. I see this all the time with short films. You need to let me experience why they matter, so I feel what they feel. It's that lazy adage of "look, I've got a pregnant wife, so you must care. I missed out on my first child so I have to get back to my pregnant wife, so care about the character" no, no I don't. I'm sorry. SHOW, don't tell. I'm sorry but this is just a load of context thrown at me very fast, and then a forced meteor event out of nowhere to make me care. I don't care about her, not to be mean, you just tell me things, I don't experience why it matters to her, I don't feel it. Focus on setting up one clear, compelling goal, that has to overcome stakes that we feel, that matters, because we experience that. Also what is this about, really about? like, what am I supposed to take away from this? Because I am so unclear about what they're trying to achieve, the meteor thing just feels so out of nowhere based on what you set up. If you had setup at the beginning that they are out there to somehow setup some defence system to thwart meteors and that there is this meteor shower on the way and that it is likely a suicide mission, that would make more sense. The nuclear system, satellite stuff, making fuel, who cares! is meaningless, it goes nowhere. All that seems to matter is her sacrifice, so focus on that, and deepening that, making it more meaningful, make me care, show me why I should care, you haven't shown me, so why should I??? This feels like a feature film jam packed into 15 mins.
Loved this one! I especially love the budget sets, complete with the shower suction grab bar controls and the fact that they're completely unapologetic about them. The acting in this was fantastic! They did so much with so little and belief was suspended. Well done!
This might well be my favorite place on the whole planet. If I knew before hand that someone was flying a drone I would never even go there. What a rue thing to do.
I’m a trained drone flyer with a British and euro license. I wanted to show the world how beautiful these islands are. So I did. I apologise that it’s not for you. And hope I’ve not but you off going back, to the island
I go to Harris most years..its great footage Just a little concerned about the legal implication..as I was under the impression Drones are not that welcome🤔
The lighthouse keepers at the Butt of Lewis did weather observations and the Met Office at Stornoway Airport did inspections occasionally. The keepers have gone and the Met Office closed with the March of technology.
I will be on Harris in July this year and this stunning footage makes me want to get packed and head there right now. As a scot I wholeheartedly support The John Muir Trust in all they do. Beautiful music btw.
Great drone video Kale Kale. I visited Lewis & Harris years ago in the 70's, unfortunately never got to see all those fantastic beaches. I guess maybe the weather could have been a little rough while I was there, nevertheless I remember enjoying the beautiful scenery. I also remember driving to the very windy Butt of Lewis, but it wasn't too cold.
Thank you, Kale Kale, the filming of these islands of Scotland is awesome, with your drone. Your choice of music reflects the melancholy of its atmosphere merging with the beauty of unspoiled nature, and a history that is impressive, of dwellers on these islands arriving from the sea, finding themselves on pristine soil and rock weathered by the elements. As an Anglophile, I'm sure to visit these Outer Hebrides of Scotland one day, enjoying their beauty while cycling on my e-bike. I do hope there's a YHA hostel around somewhere, to be used as a base. Or caravans, shepherd huts, somewhere on them.
You must visit the Highlands and Islands of Scotland as they are beautiful beyond belief, but sadly they are not 'unspoiled nature', far from it. They show the results of 5,000 years of bad farming and the destructive power of deer and sheep. Great efforts are being made in some places to reverse the damage and you may like to support the John Muir Trust which does much of the work.
