Great video! 😊 I am a freelance photographer with clients all around the globe. I used to leave my MacBook Pro’s at home and only bring the iPad Pro M2 when working abroad. Love editing on iPad, love editing with the pen. It’s just harmonic. BUT, ended up selling the iPad cause of the slow import/export of a batch of photos. Every second counts. So, my question is. Is it still slow to import a batch of photos to Lightroom and is it still slow to export? If they upgraded this I will easily go for an M4
Hey! Glad to hear we're like minded haha. I do still have experience from time to time on slow imports directly from my camera! It takes forever for photos to show up in the lightroom catalog as I'm looking to import them. I do however think this is related to the cables I'm using, BUT for whatever reason I haven't been able to decipher it fully. I think volume of photos I have on my cards plays a part too. Export however I have no issues!
You tell us to go to settings and then you show yourself scrolling without mentioning what you’re pressing. How do you expect us to follow your guide easily? It is unnecessarily strenous trying to figure out what you clicked on
Have been using LRC for ever and also used my 7 year iPad for basic editing in various apps including LR over recent years. It worked but was fiddly but not impossible to do. Despite having a pencil, I never used it - on reflection. I don't know why. Just upgraded to to an M4 iPad and looked at if I could continue to use my original Apple pencil. It is possible to get it paired to the USB C iPad, but, it is difficult if not impossible to keep using it due to charging. I had intended getting a new pencil before going on a recent exotic holiday but didn't due to cost. Apple have though just dramatically reduced the pencil pro (by £50 on Apple and by £60 on Amazon) so I bought one on my return. Using knowledge of LRC, the new iPad/Pencil Pro with LT became a dream to use. There's a few quirks to work around but it it very intuitive. The syncing with desktop is a massive help because that allows you to take your editing from web-targeted use over to the full sized editing for other use quite quickly and easily. Within 15 minutes I had edited a dozen images to dramatically improve them where it would have taken much longer on both the old iPad and desktop versions. iPad editing doesn't replace the desktop environment, but it allows quick and easy editing for using images in certain context. Nothing is perfect, but my first impression is that this combination is a great tool, both at home and out in the wild.
I like the format. And the GoPro on your chest I think is better than on the strap of your backpack. That's how I do it anyway. Additionally, I'd ditch the strap and use a clutch. I can see the strap getting in the way. Just one guy's opinion ✌️
Good feedback! I'm always worried with the photos being displayed for too long so definitely can keep that in mind going forward :) Probably second guessed myself and made them too short haha.
It does everything I want but it’s so hard to justify the price point 🫠. (2k CAD) Im no content creator but for graphic arts/videography classes and general uni stuff, is it worth it over say, an air? (Though I have a pc so I’m not too pressed about getting a laptop) if you were a student would you bite the bullet?
Portability was the number one reason I've been curious about it! Having an 11 inch model just lets it be a lot smaller for when I'm on the go, travelling or just wanting something small to sit on the couch with :) I think too the 13 inch is really large, I've had friends who had previous models with it, and if you're a student doing note taking I couldn't see someone putting a 13 inch on a lecture table and taking notes and then having that be a more enjoyable experience than an 11 inch. So as a content creator, I think it comes down to editing! If you need a proper work station for serious client work though, you'll definitely still need a laptop.
The only thing I would say is that amount of money you spent on your iPad is out of the reach of many, add the keyboard and pencil and you’ve spent a serious amount of dosh and you still can’t wholy recommend it, which to me personally speak volumes if you see what I mean? I would be interested to know how felt using the base m4 model…..
@@ColdCoffeePhotography yeah I mean tbh if I wasn’t combining this with a lot of my RU-vid content creation I wouldn've had a much harder time convincing myself to buy one. But I think the benefit right now is that I am able to provide honest opinions about something like this that can help other people out! I’ve always been curious about the IPad and have always wanted one so I figured this would be a great place to start to really see if I could get the ultimate benefit about it and share with other people my authentic interaction with it. I do actually really enjoy using it, but in a lot of ways it's a bit more of a nice to have. The most shocking benefit for me has been the note taking aspect of it if I'm being honest. I love using journals and now using Goodnotes instead, I'm able to keep everything really central and in one place so I really like it from that perspective. But yeah, I absolutely see what you mean and I think given the price point you’re right! Good news is now you don’t have to buy one and can focus on getting a laptop haha in all honesty I think the tablet has considerable redundancies at all price points to a laptop and so it really comes down to the unique attributes of the tablet + price point that would be the ultimate deciding factor. In truth I think the portability of it + the pencil is the biggest competitive advantage it has!
First I would say that I did buy the M4 iPad Pro as it was time for an upgrade for my iPad. I think people that are blessed and do spend this amount of money do not want to admit exactly what you’re talking about in this comment. I agree with you fully and I would only recommend an iPad for someone like myself that travels a lot and really is not a complex user. I also have a iMac at home and a virtual display from work that I can use on my iPad with jump for home and Citrix for work. So I can do what I need to do when I can’t on the iPad. I value the portability and simplicity of the workflow the most. If your like me it’s worth it. I’m over 50 and can’t do the things I need to on my phone alone comfortably. So iPad is a want to have for me not a need to have. If I could only afford one computer I would have a MacBook Air as I am really not a PRO user.
I’m legit in the same boat, I have a MacBook Air which can’t run Final Cut Pro. I just recently bought the program, and looking to get a MacBook or iPad Pro. I was curious what made you consider just getting the iPad over the MacBook? What won you over the most?
@@only1raay oh I was gonna get a gaming laptop for gaming and editing on the go. But I recently made a mini itx build so incase I do end up going somewhere for vacation and feel like gaming I could take that bc it’s so small. Atleast until I got a decent gaming laptop. But at the moment I don’t plan on going anywhere. So figured let me try out the iPad and get a decent gaming laptop later on. I could always return it to Bestbuy if I don’t like it
Agree.. i once got to take a picture for my batch portfolio event.. but that time i only focus on people.. Later when i need to make a recap/highlight video.. i miss all the thing happen like ambient, environment, So starting from that.. i learn to just take everything in consideration even tho for me its a normal or something i can found it daily.. cause it really help convey the story behind it❤
I would never take just 1 lens, certainly not just 1 of these two. The 16-35mm is great for wide angle to standard zoom, but certainly not narrow enough for many shots, especially in street photography. The 24-70 would probably cover 90% of my needs on an average trip, I still would not go on a trip with just this lens! The 20-70 f/4 gets a lot closer to a one and done travel lens, especially when traveling in the city. Out in nature, the 16-35 + 50-400 would be my lightweight combi of choice I guess
