I first saw the paintings after I shot the Moordkuilrivier Pass video and was struck by the quality. Went back to do the more detailed shots and found out the name of the artist at the local spasa shop - Oom Fourie - and got his full name in one of the comments.
Yes, Mpumalanga has some beautiful passes down the escarpment. It's been years since I drove there and would like to get up there again to do some videos
SAL? The pass is Cradock Pass, but seems to be more an idea of a pass than an actual pass now. I checked Google Earth when I got back and some photos and it seems overgrown and is only a hiking trail now

It's new roofs, not old ones, that get blown off in Cape Town. The reason is that craftsmanship, materials and construction methods were much better a century ago. The emphasis should be on which roofs get blown off, not the fact that roofs get blown off. Sadly, people get sensational news instead of factual across the wide media spectrum. Please use this as an added measure of discernment.
I appreciate your comment and probably agree. However, in these situations people who are affected should be empathised with regardless of the age of their buildings
Sorry. I listened to the music again, which is stormy music without being over-dramatic, I still think it's suitable. Maybe the "Mexican" style in parts makes it feel "jovial", not intended to be, I promise

I'm trying a new editing technique, for me, in this highlights video, speeding up sections between highlights rather than cutting sections out, in order for you to still get the effect of the whole trip. Does it work for you? Let me know in the comments
Unfortunately, due taking the wrong road out of Kommetjie we missed out on filming at Slangkop Lighthouse and Outer Kom Apologies as well for the rattle, which I didn't pick up during the drive. If needed, turn down the sound and switch the captions on
In the 1800s Strand was also the refuge of Cape Malay slaves who escaped enslavement. In 1970, during the Apartheid era, all black, coloured and Asian people were forcefully removed when the town was classified as a white-only resort. Included in the communities forced to leave at this time were the descendants of Cape Malay slaves, who had escaped from Cape Town over 100 years earlier.
