Lots of smallies in the Tusc. River. Notice to all kayakers with their own kayaks, equipment, and shuttle. The NTR canoe rental in Bolivar has been progressively trying to control ALL in and out spots along the river up to Navarre and maybe further. I just noticed a new gate and NO TRESPASSING sign on 8-2-24 at the 212 ramp by the hiking/biking trail parking. They may have another at the Sherman Church rd in/out spot as well. Pittman park (Navarre) and Riverland/212 are still accessible to public. The woman running the show is NOT friendly and will threaten to have you arrested for trespassing. Every year it gets harder for the public to kayak the Tusc R in the Bolivar area due to the NTR livery. If you rent from them, they charge you for anything in the kayak beyond yourself! Their trip mileage is about double the actual across the board. 6mi. is more like 3, etc. They will overcharge, double charge and then offer to correct that, after the fact, but it never happens. Equipment is so-so. Their page says "less people, more wilderness" or something, but on a holiday wknd you'll see up to 100 others on the river. Just saying. I live 2 mi. from Bolivar, have my own kayaks, and run that section often but they make it increasingly more difficult for locals to do so. I am very offended by NTR, they act like they OWN the river. Nobody does! Hope this info is helpful to those interested in floating the Tuscarawas R. in Bolivar Oh.
It was so nice out yesterday- I got only nice eaters north of Kelley’s in 50’ - they were full of baby sheep head about 3” long - definitely Sheephead- not shad
I did horrible in Huron yesterday- marks were not like they were last week- worked my way out to 45+ and then back - west then north then east of dumping grounds

@@richardbk1 I wish I lived closer to the lake. I'm near Akron, so it's about 1:45 to Tibbels but it would be worth it for me to avoid the crowd. Can I pay as I go or is season pass required? Also, any campground nearby?
