Great video! 🫡 I’m on my 4th set of Cooper STT Pro muds on my 2014 Tacoma (35”). My truck is my daily driver and I off road/overland/camp/hunt once or twice a month. These tires have been getting pretty good mileage before swapping, but they really excel in the sand and snow over other mud terrains. They seem to be about the same as most other mud terrains in mud and on rocks. The only thing I’m doing differently with my next set is going to 37” instead of 35”. 👍
The thing with dislocating springs is that it allows the loaded wheels to travel further up and with less force. It does this via the seesaw geometry of beam axles. People who criticise saying there is no downforce on the dropped wheel is not understanding the mechanics at play.
MUY BUENA RESEÑA BROT YO TENGO UNA HACE 1 AÑO APROXIMADAMENTE, AÑO 2000 MOTOR 5VZ BLANCA Y ES UNA MARAVILLA NO LA CAMBIO POR NADA, TENGO VIDEOS EN MI CANAL, SALUDOS.
Had my J90 for 19 years (1979 car) crossed the Sahara and done several off road rallys. Things that have been replaced. Drivers seat, all shocks, one spring, cylnder head, radiator, windscreen and rear window, clutch, belts. Trackrod ends, rear door seal, both front axcdls. Rear acxel welded. BEST CAR I EVER OWNED. Driven daily passes it anual test every year and starts first time.
Hello Theo long time fun, i purchased a landrover disco 2 because of you(mostly daily driven as a family transportation) i see you on a “charity event at pafos” anw, what is a good 4x4 club in Cyprus that a “beginner” can join? Also how a noob like my can find a trails in Cyprus? 😅😅😅 i try the wikloc but most of the trails there you can’t be sure about the terrain, and as you say if you go alone is a risk
Great video Theo! Specially the saving money part. Now with social media it seems like if you don’t have 35s on a twin locked vehicle with crazy expensive overland gear you can’t go off roading. I’ve been off roading since I was born with my Dad (nowadays I go with him on the right seat in my 300tdi D1) always with a ground tent and basic stuff, and man we have so much fun! Greetings from Argentina! 🇦🇷
The most important thing you need to check/ replace is the braking system. You wouldn't want to start rolling down the hill only to find out your 40 year old truck blew a 40 year old brake line and now you got no more brakes.
100% with you, if you buy an old truck you need to check brakes, bushes, suspension, a quick service to the engine/drive train and you’re good to go and enjoy
Oh very nice vidéo !!! And very nice Defender in Napflio : it’s mine !!!! It was on the parking near to the port : « Oh that’s a very nice Disco near to the Def ! » 😂 And we have done the same night on the Olympus Mount 🤩 Vive la Grèce ! Vive les Land ! Bonsoir de la France 😍
I’m a big fan of 4Runners but prefer the LC interior design. My 4Runner has gotten me through some treacherous conditions so I’ll probably always have a 4Runner. Maybe I’ll get a used Trailhunter in about 10 years. Thanks for the video!
In previous gen there were enough differences. The lc (150) had swing cargo door, roof ac vents for second and third row, and large fuel tank. 4R had looks, lower price, and a bit lighter weight.
great vid, yeh its a good overlander. but the new lc has few issues, its expensive and will probably need lift kits 1-2 inch to be very capable offroad
Good info. I’m gonna disagree with one of your points and the same point many reviewers make. You can never have enough choice. Overlapping capability is a great choice for consumers. I’d be happy if Toyota had 3 more off road vehicles. Black 58 for me, hopefully any day now.
Hello friend greetings from Greece , great video ! I’m interested of buying one 3,4 petrol . I need to do trips on road and some off-road . How it’s the Land Cruiser in travel ? How many rpms in 120-130 km ? Thank you very much
Main concern for me is the reliability of the powertrain once the vehicle is modded w/ bigger, multi-ply tires, which are almost essential for terrain anywhere near me. I've heard that extra unsprung weight puts a ton of strain on the turbos in the taco with the same powertrain.
Just out of curiosity where do you live that 33”s are “too small”? I live in the sticks and I run 31.5”s and I’m golden even when we get 30 inches of snow per storm
@@justahumbledude as far as the engine itself, the the turbo 4 has been used for a while now and i have seen many in the shop (highlanders, grand highlanders, ect) in for engine work like tundra/seqouia
Just bought an 80 series Landcruiser. Paid a little more Toyota tax than i would have liked but I'm willing to put 10k into making this one what I want than paying for anything made in the last 25 years
Poly' bushes aren't really as greet (for a 4x4) as some people think they are. They were originally produced for sportscars, to help prevent suspension components from moving in unintended directions. A sportscar doesn't have a lot of suspension travel to begin with so parts tend not to need to twist or move as the suspension articulates. On a solid-axle 4x4, such as a Disco' when the suspension articulates the axle is trying to twist the radius-arms and poly bushes will actually hinder that. Also, while it's true that rubber bushes wear and go soft, poly bushes tend to split and crumble when they get old, especially when used on a 4x4. I think a lot of people just get sucked into buying poly bushes. They need new bushes so they figure they might as well "upgrade" their vehicle at the same time... so they buy poly bushes. A smart person should look at how each suspension component moves and then ONLY fit poly bushes in places where they'll yield a benefit. On a D1, for example, it might be a good idea to fit poly bushes to the front of the A-frame, where it attaches to the chassis, to reduce lateral play. For parts such as the radius arms, the ARBs, or where the A-frame bolts to the axle, rubber bushes will be better because they'll allow more twisting.
