Hello, my name is Troy Saunders. I have been in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years. I've done some acting, modeling, and vocal performing. I'm most proud of the time I spent promoting independent artists through my company, The BAAS Group, now rebranded as BAAS Entertainment. We started in 2009. Our goal is to provide an upscale space where independent soul, jazz, R&B, funk, and hip hop artists could showcase their talents around the NYC area. My goal is to inform, entertain and educate the listeners of the indie artists that are seldom heard, and give little-known facts and music about the artists I feel have made major contributions to modern music. Chaka Khan's vocal acrobatics are out there. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!! No one does it like CHAKA!! I like Joyce Kennedy's version and Dionne Warwick's version. Carole Bayer Sager (who wrote this song) did a good job for an adult contemporary sound.
I don't remember the exact year. Im going to guess 1992 or 1993. This song was apart of her set list even before the "Waiting To Exhale" Soundtrack. This version was pre "Waiting To Exhale"
Talent is something you work hard at until you hone your craft -- and this is to be applauded. But being gifted requires no effort; it's just something you're born with...it flows easy; naturally. Chaka's voice is definitely a gift from God. Try hard as you may but you can neither teach nor learn the unique nuances and variances implanted in Chaka's voice. With each note, she exquisitely and flawlessly sings this Rogers and Hart classic as if they had written and composed it just for her. And although this great composition have stood the test of time and have been sung by countless artists, I feel that Chaka's rendition fused so perfectly with the music/lyrics that this piece was catapulted to a musical work of art.
Love this song and the video is very nice. For me this tune is Grammy worthy. Warner Bros should have promoted this for her imo. They were such jerks to her.
