I Get Around by the Beach Boys has a very distinctive, not regular bass sound. It has a regular bass playing underneath, but I think this distinctive sound that makes the opening note is from a Danelectro 6-string bass. I can't find the words to describe the sound, but I didn't hear it in your demo. Do you know how to get that sound?
So many of the Beach Boys songs were done with the Wall of Sound production concept, so the bass line was played by a Bass VI, another electric bass, an upright bass or two, the left hand of at least one piano and sometimes also a tuba or bari sax. So, it makes it hard to get that sound with one instrument.
This is a great comparison for those of us finger style players who also plug our overdrives straight into a console. I’m not one of them but it’s great for those who fit this description.
@@gorkemayazz I would suggest going through the presets and find something that sounds close to the sound you're looking for and then adjusting it to taste.
@@petelamontmusic I’ve got a Donner Echosquare delay and it works great. For a home player that isn’t bashing on a pedal hundreds of times a year these units allow people on normal budgets to get all the sounds they need.
@@petelamontmusic Thanks for the quick reply. Ok that sounds great I’ll have to give one a go. Currently using my Maton into their Hypergravity mini set really subtle (adds punch and clarity/sparkle mainly) so may be similar. Sounds great already but the Bodyrez might do that and more.
@@petelamontmusic Ok so I’m on break after 1 set with the Bodyrez and Maton, honestly it doesn’t work with it but I can tell it would work well and doing the right things for typical piezo guitars and tested at home. Think I could set my hypergravity to do similar. Worth a shot however. Everyone is wondering so I’ll run the bodyrez through a pink noise generator and see what that eq is doing and will post results to one of the forum threads.
I don't own the unit, it was borrowed, but with these older multi FX units, the first thing to check is that the power adapter is the correct voltage, amperage and polarity. The second thing to check would be if the solder joints to the input and output jacks are intact. Best of luck.
It really depends on the song, pick something similar to the rest of the song, but maybe just a little louder. Or if you get one you like, the volume pedal all the way up for the solo and down a bit for the rest of the song.
The tracking is very good with this one. A lot of other ones, especially older ones, have a lot of digital artifacts in the signal which this one doesn't.
Both good pedals. I like that sort of pedal just on the break up point but I’d probably use one for the break up and drop the volume down slightly for clean rhythm then use one to drive the other for solos.
@@creativejamtracks677 Thanks, and yes, both are good pedals. You could totally use them in that way, one for clean rhythm tones and the other to drive solos depending on what colour you wanted for each. Thanks for your comments.
Every time that I call it a bass 6 locally people don't understand and think I'm talking about the bass that has a low B and high C so I've just taken to calling it Vee I and didn't break the habit for this video.
Thanks, I've been really happy with them. They've been on for just over two years now and still sound great. Turns out they weren't the right choice for my Gibson DC Jr bass, but this one I'm still happy with.
Thanks for the beautiful video, I have a question I own a Baby Taylor BT1e and whenever plugged in directly its awful because of thin tone do you think should I be using this pedal to solve the problem a bit
It certainly may help. If you watch the other video that I made of this pedal, I put a solid body electric with a piezo bridge through this, so I would imagine it would have a similar effect. If that's the sound that you're looking for, this could be the pedal for you.
Thanks for the review! i have one to.i find that when switching between the 3 modes the most right one is the loudest compared to the other 2.is this normal? The most left is series mode, the middle is songle coil and the most right is series mode right?
I got one cheap off Kijiji cause it came with a garbage setup, tightened everything up, changed the strings (flat) a little truss rod twist and it’s solid stable and just plane old fun to play.
