We're a retired couple taking life day by day. We are passionate about history, and love traveling to historic towns and sites that we have yet to explore. We hope you enjoy the trip along with us. You're never too old or young for adventure whether it's in your own back yard or miles away.

favorite part was the trains .. I had not released that Amtrak made stops in Redwing ... perhaps future trip. thanks for sharing the adventure pard. *LIKED* the video
Love the video. I’m just like you. I like to walk those historic trails and imagine how many people traveled it back in the day. Have you ever checked out the sections of the old Point Douglas to Saint Louis River trail in Wild River Park? They are also on the National Register. Same with a small section of the Lake City to Rochester Road called the Mount Pleasant Section. Although that one looks to be on someone’s private property
Been to Hurley many, many times, both as a young buck partying at the strip clubs and later as a family man on fishing & cabin rental trips. Most people around there are nice but there’s a seedy element for sure. A lot of drug abuse, poverty, thievery, and general trashiness.
Does anyone have any thoughts on Nora's bar and Abe's Nora's son that ran the Bar around the corner and I used to sell Chuck and Times Pizza at both of them also Nora was quit the Lady also she had me back in her home to pay me. Please Reply, Thanks.
My great grandfather emigrated to Winona in 1867. My grandfather was born there. My father was born there. I had a great uncle who worked as a striper in one of the 15 cigar factories that used to be there. Then the Great Depression came, and my grandfather moved the family to Milwaukee. Used to visit relatives in Winona quite often. We'd stay with great aunt Josie and jump all night when the train would run by. Her husband used to tell stories about jumping off the bridge; he knew the safe spot. When I lived in Minnesota, Winona was my favorite place to visit, although all family was long gone. I dream now of moving there, but I don't know if I can take the winters anymore. I believe I would find traces of family in the Polish Museum, and there are certainly gravesites to visit.
I spent a lot of time in Skanee as my parents were born in the area. My Grandpa Ward built a house out there. The county named the road after him. Ward road.
Been going to Winona from 1950 thru 1966 for summer vacations. I grew up in Kansas but my Grand parents lived in Winona. Beautiful little town and the fishing wasn't bad either! Thanks for sharing the memories.
Old Frontenac ... my heart has always been there since my sister attended Villa Maria Academy in 1958. I have 8 books on its history. I so love the park, too, and Lake Pepin. Thank you for the video.
