Dundee is the only city in Scotland worse than Aberdeen, despite Aberdeen being voted the UKs most miserable city. No wonder 95 percent of Scots live in Edinburgh and Glasgow. There is nothing in the North of Scotland.
5:08 and 5:50 I miss the two skyways that used to take you to the train station or the leisure centre, the river front doesn't feel the same without them.
0:16 is a view driving down the A90 with the Menzieshill multis in the distance, demolished 2010. And 3:40 is the Hilton hotel (formerly the Stakis, Earl Grey) near the Olympia, demolished 2012.
Wow back then those cars looked normal before i could drive, now all those cars are classics that everyone looks at when drive by, its crazy how things change in just two decades, roads look alot safer too,no distracted drivers texting or on phones lol😁👍🏴
I absolutely love it thank you for the great memories hopefully you can upload footage around dundee 1991 1992 and 1993 as a friendly request I'd very much appreciate that again thank you so much 😊
@@chethemerc7841 I don't see how boasting about breaking the law is amusing. As a cyclist I'm sick of arrogant drivers like you putting people's lives in danger. You should have your license taken away.
@@jinxterx i could go a lot faster now with the cars i have. I did it when i was 19 im 45 now. Although i still loath greenie weirdo cyclists. Buy a car you freak instead of pissing everyone on the road off.
@@chethemerc7841 Clearly you haven't matured at all in the past 26 years. I've got just as much right to be on the road as you and I'm not producing any pollution and destroying the planet. Hopefully you'll get caught by the police soon and prosecuted to the full extent of the law so justice will be done and our streets will be safe from irresponsible drivers.
@9:29 there is a Toys R Us ad for the Sega Megadrive for £129.94. There is no way they were selling that in 1999. I searched, and found the TV spot with the exact same audio "Toys R Us UK TV Advert 1992 (TSW Region) Featuring Sega Mega Drive", and it's from 1992. Which makes more sense listing ot the music, how it's more late 80's. So yeah, 1992!
I've spent too long sleuthing, guy on radio announces Tay FM thing on Monday 9th January 1995 Mega Drive advert meaning maybe still in 1994. But then the Blockbuster advert later cleary sets it in the Year 2000. So I have no clear conclusion beyond the guy made his own audio and stitched some mixture of eras in.
@@jamesc8523 The new Overgate building from 8.00 mins didn't start getting built until 1998 and opened March 2000. It looks quite near completion so 1999 looks quite accurate to me. Also car at 19.05 is a 'R' reg which came out August 1997 until July 1998. The guy clearly states he has put his own audio to the video which is why it doesn't tie up.
If you read the disclaimer at the start it would have saved you a lot of bother. The guy clearly states he has put his own audio to the video which is why it doesn't match up. The video footage is 1999 for sure.
"The original videos had classical music so I replaced it with engine sounds, era appropriate music and some archived radio Tay jingles and adverts I found online to help give it a realistic atmosphere as if you were there."
Chings I grew up in Dundee in the 60s, left in the late 70s. Im currently reading "The Cresent" a story set in 1890s Dundee and its more recognisable than the Dundee in your video LOL
Man that radio was as eclectic as my Spotify list. I'm assuming that musta been Tay AM? Genuinely had no idea that they played newer songs pulp/oasis, also don't go away was never released here so they were playing album tracks. Kate Bush to kick it off and tears for fears to end, I feel like I missed out 🤣
@@neozeed8139 I hear what you’re saying - I don’t think anywhere was selling new Megadrives by ‘99. The vehicles in the video point to it being late ‘90s though - not least the gold Mk2 Renault Clio around the 10:30 mark (released in ‘98), and the P reg lorry (August ‘96 onwards) in clear view around the 14:20 mark. There are plenty of other cars visible (Ford Ka, Mk 4 Fiestas, mk2 Rover 400s, a Daihatsu Grand Move, and a Renault Scenic) that were only sold after ‘95 or ‘96. I can’t be sure, but I think there’s even a maroon Audi A4 estate on an S plate at one point. Maybe the audio isn’t the same vintage as the visuals?
I was at my brothers for prees when we heard about it. Went out to the balcony on his perth road house (just beside cambletown bar) and could see the glow from there. We battered oot and went up hawkhill, then thru the uni and could see it clearly. Very ominous. Then we went right by it going past the overgate, folk were going past the barriers in the carparks to get a view past the police cordon. Then we got pisht n boogied at Kings
