@@max-andysaint-sauveur7825 I have new stock rubber motor mounts and the original 305 clamshells with eBay 1” set back plates. I redrilled the set back plates to shift the engine forward about an inch to fit the AC compressor. Also I have enough room so the passenger valve cover and coil packs don’t hit the AC/ heater box.
@@joshp5068 I guess the super boot was a bit worn out. I put another stock rubber coupling on with a couple of hose clamps. My bike runs excellent 9 or 10 months of the year. During the winter when it’s 65° and lower the cold idle is terrible and it backfires through the carb as shown. After about 1 minute it’s warm enough to run normally.
Perfect. I just bought a 2008 compass to replace my 07. the new one has limited features, no AC, no power doors locks or inverter but the old one does so I will be slowly moving a couple of the features over from the old one. Thank you for your tutorial. Looks like a breeze.
@@poorboysadventures4636 Having a whole parts car would be really cool. There are quite a few common parts from other compatible cars. The one thing I’d really like to change is the small gas tank for a bigger one.

The white one I didn’t use as there was no place to plug it in on the new stereo harness and I had to order an adapter to connect the antenna which I installed several days later, it’s shown in the new video.
Wonder if you can just replace it with an equal length of aluminum (or a strong plastic?) rod if you can't locate another original piece. Cool to see how it works though I don't think I've ever had one apart. Thanks!!
After I installed a B&M Megashifter in my car I just stored this original shifter so if I ever wanted to put it back I’d have it. I’m sure today I could probably have the plastic pushrod 3D printed or maybe somebody Carrie’s repair parts now.
I'm pretty pissed off right now. I bought every necessary component for a 115v plug install from a junk yard, (which includes: inverter, harness under cup holders and the 115v plug itself) for my 2010 jeep patriot sport base model only to realise the inverter plug is nowhere to be seen under the dash... Basically I can't connect the inverter. I had searched on forums and looked at this video previously so I was convinced I would have a taped-up connector like everyone seems to have but turns out it isn't the case for me😢 Should have looked before buying... Maybe only the 2010 jeep patriot base model lacks this connector? I don't know and I don't think there is an answer on the web as I write this😅
Did you find the plug yet? I had removed the inverter from a junkyard compass before I bought anything. I pulled the inverter out until I could see the plug. I took pictures of it then went home to check out my Jeep to see if the inverter plug was there and fortunately it was. Maybe yours is buried a little deeper back there than mine was.
@@bhwjrproductions Sadly no I have not found it. Searched it for a good hour, I checked for pretty much every possible hidden spot, even behind the metal by feeling the main harness from top to bottom. Even tried pulling on it to see if it would reveal the connector... Either I am very blind or I need to replace the whole dash harness for a "higher trim one", which I would say it probably is not worth it for a simple underpowered outlet😅
@@elliottbouchard4279 The factory inverter won’t power much. That stinks that your car didn’t have a factory pre harness plug-in. I’m sure a stand alone aftermarket inverter would be much easier to install someplace than spending a ton more time on retrofitting the factory one.
I git the same issue with my 2008 compass. Ripped out the one from my 2007 to do the swap. The spot for the outlet was there so all good. Then yeah. No plug for the inverter anywhere under my dash. Huge dissapointment.
Not much. My daughter has only used it to power her laptop. It won’t support a hair dryer or power tools other than a small battery charger. I just pulled this from the internet: From the owners manual: "There is a 115 Volt, 150 Watt inverter outlet located on the back of the center console to convert DC current to AC current. This outlet can power cellular phones, electronics and other low power devices requiring power up to 150 Watts.
My back up grid was there when I first selected reverse. I like it and never tried to turn it off. When in reverse if I touch the middle of the display screen a menu pops up to adjust lighting but I don’t see any option to turn the grid on or off.
I just installed one of these in our Jeep Patriot... Really wanted to love it but the sound quality is horrible... Very muffled and sounds like it's in a box. Everything was plug and play. Had the sound been good I could have worked with some of the quirks... shame really
@@jsparrowau yep did that. Literally tried every setting including the developer ones. It didn't change anything. I then got a different one in the sound quality was improved but still not great. I think the one unit that I got was a dud or something was wrong with it. I'm actually sitting on about four of these now lol. They're good with certain aspects but they're also bad in others... I wish I'd made manufacture would make something just like this and then it would be superior quality.
Unit has been awesome since i got mine. Installed it with no problem. Only issue i dont like you cant use the gps without bein connected to your phone😏🤦🏽
I have a Buell xb12ss lightning long and it has a similar problem. after the bike has warmed up the bike starts sputtering and backfiring randomly, under load especially. Then randomly it cuts out but idles just fine. If it ever turns off then turning the ignition off and on it starts up just fine.the warmer the bike the worse it runs.
It wasn’t too bad. My fabrication tools were a small jig saw, a sanding drum on a drill, a file and a homemade metal brake. I was determined to make that giant air filter work, it’s kind of big. The box is bolted through existing holes already in the car. The whole engine swap project was just me hanging out in my garage building stuff like everyone else on RU-vid.
My cousins' car, Jeep Patriot 2011 2.0L tube broke exactly in the same spot as yours did. It fell off the car with no cap on the tube, dirt was getting into the transmission. Noticed it was broken when filling the transmission after a drain. I had to remove the battery and tray. I ended up removing the coolant line all together. Drained the coolant. Top bolt is a little hard to remove as it is facing the engine. Bottom bolt is also accessible from the bottom provided you have an angle wrench. Thanks for the T30 Torx bit mention. I’m glad it helped you. Fortunately we found it on a road trip so it couldn’t have been more than a few hours it ran broken. I covered the hole with a bunch of electrical tape until I could fix it.
I pushed/tucked it under the side panels and door sill panels on the driver side then zip tied to other wires at the bottom of the dash on the back side enough so the wire wasn’t hanging and it’s hidden. Then it hangs out of the stereo hole where it’s bundled up with the rest of the stereo wiring.
It’s ok, I’d say it’s about the same as the stock radio. We didn’t change any of the speakers they are the 9 year old originals. I’m not a big stereo person, no amps, subs, or upgraded or added speakers. It’s my daughters car and she is still pretty happy with it.
First of all, this is a great video and exactly the information I needed. My question: Would you happen to know a part number for that wiring harness? I've been able to get 2 of the 3 required parts, but the harness is so far eluding me.
I don’t know the harness part number, when I picked the inverter from the Jeep in the junkyard I also took everything with it including the mounting screws and the harness that was plugged into the inverter. The open connector was already in my Jeep I just had to plug it in.
I had a 72 pinto runabout in the mid 80’s with a 2.0. I was building a 3.8 Buick turbo v6 for it but lost interest and gave it away when I bought a new SS Monte Carlo. Sometimes I wish I’d have kept it. I’d have an LS in it by now.
Just installed one of these in a 2015 Jeep compass. Do you have any idea on how to get it to work with factory reverse camera? After I installed the radio, I put it in reverse just to see, it popped up like the camera was going to come on but it just showed a black screen with the indicator lines. Thanks
