We are a family operated dairy farm located in Lancaster county Pennsylvania milking 75 cows and farming 150 acres. The purpose of my channel is to provide insight into day to day farm operations and to educate about dairy farming. We strive to produce high quality milk and to treat our cows with upmost respect
With the direct cut this year we chose to drive beside when opening up... Can't decide which one's better... You drive some flat but then you don't spill since it don't blow as nice as corn silage.
Great video! I spent many hours riding on tractor while raking hay, then helping unload hay wagons. Nothing better smelling than freshly baled hay. Keep up the great work and cherish the memories, life goes by so fast! . Going back to see dairy farm I spent many summers at is on my bucket list.
Yeah I do have one. I've only used it to make that 1 video so far. I wasn't super impressed with it. I've just used a cell phone to make all my other ones
We make only a few acres of dry hay a year. We have a wheel rake that we use for corn fodder and we get our alfalfa and rye merged by a custom operator.
Great video, nice set up for mixing, a lot more complex than my grandfather's scoop of feed, silage and hay. Keep up the great work and look forward to your next video.
Nice to see a clean barn. I milked cows in a tie barn and I was a neat freak s I really appreciate a clean barn. Hats off to you not many people want to work 7 days a week, and its too bad that the people in the cities have no idea what it take to ship milk today. Great barn and that is the first time I have seen a pipeline behind the cows.. You have a great looking cows and it looks like they are milking really well!!👍
Sometimes I think about our grandfathers, great grandfathers when I see todays equipment. My Grandpa use to pitch manure onto a sled in the winter and then take the horses to the field and pitch it off as they drove. Now we have custom guys that can spread 300 tons in 6 hours or plant corn with a 12 row planter or chop 40 acres of silage a day. I’d like to visit Pennsylvania sometime. Looks like a nice dairy area , like here in Oxford county Ontario 😃
I’m 45 this summer. Been a dairy farmer all me life here in Ontario I don’t think I e ever seen a pipeline and vacuum line behind the cows. That’s interesting that you milk them like a parallel parlour. Looks good.
Cool tractortruck did you guys build this on the farm or someone build for you is there plans for more as would be cool video series to watch be put togeter looks sharp
Thanks! We didn't build them ourselves. They were made by the guys that do our chopping. There is 3 of them total. I'll post more videos of them later this summer
Thank you! Its actually not too bad. They learn pretty quick and can't get the milker off as easily. If one is extra jumpy we can put the milker on from the side yet instead of standing directly behind them
Jordan, a lot of people don't realize how much work and hours dairy farmers put in, the cost of everything and most people probably think you get the amount of money we pay for a gallon of milk. So sad seeing dairys selling out due to not being able to do it anymore. Has to be really tough watching the cows get loaded after last milking and trucked to sale. We have very few dairy farmers left in northern Potter County and the ones still going are struggling. No farmers, no food. Keep up the great work 24/7 365!
Yeah I couldn't imagine having to see that happen. Where are you in Potter county? We have a place up there we get to a few times a year. When we get a chance to get away
Great video, how many cows are you milking? Nice clean looking barn and cattle. Also nice set up with milkers, nice to don't have to go up between cows to switch and move every other cow.
