I remember Zubin Mehta when he was a young upcoming conductor with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I was doing a rehearsal with Beverley Hills Orchestra when he walked in to watch with a gorgeous blond by his side
Excellent presentation, so warm and beautifully played. Thank you IPO for being with all of us, always, and welcoming the refugees in such difficult times. Always music! Sylvia Lakeland
The New York Philharmonic had a good day in North Korea and Barenboim continues with his West-Eastern Divan orchestra but please, let's not fool ourselves, music is not more powerful than politics or misguided human nature. There are (great) limits to what nobility of purpose, love, and kindness can accomplish. If that were not so, the music of Bach, Mozart, and Chopin alone would have already brought peace and harmony to the world.
How moving this was and then as icing on the cake to be treated to (Razumovsky) Beethoven's opus 59 #3, the last of the three middle quartets by four gifted YIsrael Phiharmonic orchestra, who played without music!!!!!
Amazing information of these women who were part of this fantastic orchestra. I grew up listening to many concerts, as my late father was a violist too and of course, my parents used to go to concerts as members for many years. I knew many members of this magic orchestra.
This is so incredible and moving. I am so proud of the legacy of my Aunt Renee Galimir Hurtig and my family. I am really touched and grateful that this documentary has preserved part of the story.
