@TwoOutlandish lool 😆 it was only a matter of time for one of these comments. We are open planning, this is only a few second clip. Detailed video on what we done coming soon though... Much appreciated 👍🏻
@jlpropertychannel9900 I do properly development but still do little bits of plumbing like this myself! Good skill to learn basic pipework 👍🏾. It's above ground level also so you can use brass compression fittings
@RR-gp3qy oh nice, I basically pickup old run-down properties and then do them up. We are doing an openplan layout on this one. Your work sounds very interesting, do you have any content or website for what you do by any chance. Would be very interesting to look into. By the way, it is really refreshing to have a constructive comment like yours. Some of the other comments on the channel are so pointless, but I guess every comment is appreciated haa. As they all push the algorithm...
Then there's me, served for this country, got medical discharge, homeless and trying to just survive. Then there's some people that can 'afford' to buy a house and renovate it. UK has let its people down
Thanks for your comment ... then there are people like MrBeast haa... 10 years ago, things were difficult for us as a family. But I was persistent and worked my way through for the last 10 years to do what I am doing today ! Today, people will look at another person and judge based on the now and not now about the before.

@@jlpropertychannel9900 I tried to get a house but being a single white male I couldn't. I tried get a run down cheap house to flip but being me I couldn't. Now I see all these videos makes me annoyed that I can literally offer my life and my country will help others more than it's own people. Very very sad world we live in.
@miuralfernandes6188 👋 Hi Miural, hope you are well. Thanks for the lovely comment ... yes we cannot wait to renovate this property. It is our investment... our aim is to do it up and then sell. The area is East Midlands...do you know the area well..?
@@jlpropertychannel9900 Hi! Your video is good. But your RU-vid video needs to be ranked better. Some have bad issues. example: video title, tag, description, etc. are problems. Proper video SEO will improve your channel's rank. Thank You.

Thanks for your comment. A lot of alternatives will cost a lot more, and eventually, cracks will also come back on those methods. There are no real alternatives suggested on these comments. Would be great to know what you think, would work... I am looking forward to your response. I will also be doing a follow-up video in the future to show everyone what happened with this fix. I am also curious to know and see if it looks as bad as it was initially or not. Also, if it reduced the amount of movement, too.
Hi Steve, I understand where you are coming from. I am a landlord for a range of properties, but I have also been a tenant for a few months. There are arguments on both sides that could be made. For one, the court system should be improved to utilise section 8, so it has less loop holes. My full video comes out this week on the top. It is a very controversial subject. Would be also great to get your comments on that video too. Thank you for your comment 🙏
What a coincidence, having 3 comments of the same nature within a short time frame. These comments are self-explanatory. Since the first comment, the views on this video effectively doubled. Great stuff, and I'm looking forward to the next. Thanks in advance guys ☺️
Iron rods should not be used as they will rust, expand and eventually cause more cracking. Should use stainless sreel threaded rods. If you are going to give structural 'advice' please check your facts. You mention a 'lack of strength due to it being a bay window'. Have you any idea why the cracking is actually there? What is your background to be making such comments?
Hi Ron, Thanks for your comment. These comments really help the channel grow for others to see. All comments are welcomed, even the non conctrictive ones. We can both agree that RU-vid has become a platform where many can learn all sorts of things through people's experiences. Good and the bad experiences, it is then up to the individual to make their own discussions. There are people who make videos ( these take days to make ) to show their experiences on youtube and try and help others. And there are those that comment negatively, which does not help anyone. All skills and professions are learned through trial and error. Hence why I stated we will be doing a follow-up video 👍🏻 Looking forward to your reply... it has a positive effect on the algorithm 😅 For others reading these comments, I hope my videos, along with all these comments, help you out with whatever you are doing in property.
@@jlpropertychannel9900 Looking forward to seeing the follow up video. Did you think my comments were factual or negative? I've spent well over 30 years in Structural Engineering and like to think I know a little bit as to why buildings crack and what should be done to remedy the problem. Good luck with your venture.
@ronskyner9674 Thank you for the Subscription, much appreciated, Ron. I think your comments aren't factual as there is nothing constructive in them. Anyone reading over your messages will see your comments as negative. I notice people tend to be more blunt on social media platforms and rude, as opposed to conversing in reality. If you open conversations in a friendly manner, then you will get a better response. Your 30 years of experience in construction would be more well spent giving constructive feedback on people's channels, not insults. Also, if what you say is true, then opening your own RU-vid channel and helping others would be the best way about it. I would subscribe to your channel as not many people have 30 years' experience as yourself. Let me know if you start a social media platform. It would be interesting to follow a learn what you know.
Thanks for the comment 😃 I looked into this prior to doing the repair. It depends on the cause of the crack. If it is because the clay in the soil is expanding and then contracting, then yes, repointing with a weak mix would be fine with more sand in the mix. To allow for some seasonal movement. But if it is due to the lack of strength due to it being a bay window. Then, what I have done should be okay. A few people I know had used this method and were fine years after. But I guess only time will tell, and I will be doing an update video in the future. Are you into a trade by any chance ?
Hi there, if you want to open an account. I believe you can fill in a form and post it off here, but you also need to verify your passport physically with the bank. So it will be best if you visit a bank in India. If you have an OCI, then bring that with you. They will also ask for proof of address (oversea address). They will also need 1 or 2 passport photos, which you can do for really cheap in India. Once you open the bank account in India, you can then control it online if needed Let me know if you have any more questions I can answer from my experience. Please note that these are my opinions and not fully professional advice. Happy to answer more my friend...
The recession we just had was very small, and I think we also came out of it. But we can always go back into it. Rates are still high, which increases the chances of a crash in the UK. But I think the rates will start going down in a couple of months. Then I think the rates will start going down again and houses prices should bounce up.
Hi there, Thanks for your comment 😊 If we dot and dab, the moisture will get absorbed faster through to the plasterboard. I put wooden batons with a damp proof membrane to reduce the transfer of moisture from the cellar walls. Are you doing something similar ?
Top three things to check: nothing about the house apparently. My top three: is _the house_ affordable? How's the location? Whats the state/facilities of the house?
Great question Pencil bender, happy to answer with the following. User: Affordability Check affordability when buying a house ChatGPT When considering the affordability of buying a house, it's crucial to look at several key factors to make sure you're making a financially sound decision. Here are some steps to check affordability: Income: Your gross income is the starting point for figuring out how much house you can afford. Most financial advisors recommend that your monthly mortgage payment should not exceed 28% of your gross monthly income. Debt-to-Income Ratio (DTI): Lenders use this ratio to determine your ability to manage monthly payments and repay debts. Your DTI ratio is the sum of all your monthly debt payments divided by your gross monthly income. A DTI ratio of 36% is generally seen as acceptable, but some lenders may allow higher. Down Payment: The larger your down payment, the smaller your mortgage loan, and the more affordable your monthly payments will be. Aim for a down payment of at least 20% to avoid paying private mortgage insurance (PMI). Mortgage Rates: The interest rate on your mortgage significantly affects your monthly payments. Shop around and compare rates from different lenders to get the best deal. Additional Costs: Owning a home comes with additional costs beyond the mortgage payment, including property taxes, homeowners insurance, maintenance, and HOA fees, if applicable. Ensure you account for these when calculating affordability. Emergency Fund: Before buying a house, make sure you have an emergency fund in place. This is crucial for covering unexpected repairs and maintenance without straining your finances. Pre-Approval: Getting pre-approved for a mortgage can give you a clear idea of what you can afford based on your financial situation. It also strengthens your position when making an offer on a house. Budget for Moving and Furnishing: Don't forget to set aside money for moving expenses and furnishing your new home. These can add up quickly and impact your overall affordability. Use Online Calculators: Many websites offer mortgage affordability calculators that can help you estimate how much house you can afford based on your income, debts, and down payment. Long-Term Goals: Consider how buying a home fits into your long-term financial goals. Ensure that homeownership doesn't prevent you from saving for retirement, your children's education, or other important goals.
Hi Jason, thanks for the comment 🙂... it is around 1.85cm in height.... any reason you need the height. Are you comparing it to another house or something along those lines?
Hi Marylin, really appreciate the feedback... great to have comments like yours on our Channel. If you have any suggestions for a video or questions. Feel free to ask away ☺️
Hi, thanks for your 2nd comment on another one of my videos within 5 minutes. As I replied in the last comment, you left. Others and myself would benefit from constructive feedback. Please note that this panel job was done around 3 years ago. There are no signs of water damage to date. For others reading this thread and want some context to why pvc panels are water tight. PVC is produced by polymerization, which makes them waterproof. If these panels are connected correctly, water will definitely not get through them. Also, keeping in mind when tiling a wall instead. Grout in between the tiles can fail, and this will not happen with pvc panels. Looking forward to your reply and any constructive feedback, please. You have just commented on 2 of our videos in the last 10 minutes. We would really appreciate it if you could do the same for other videos we have. That be of interest to you.
@@jlpropertychannel9900 I am making a constructive comment as the panels you used are not supposed to be used around the bath as they are not waterproof and will lead to leaks. I dont want the masses to be mislead. Next time use proper waterproof panels which will not only look better but also function as a waterproof barrier. Unfortunately that bathroom will most certainly leak.
@user-iu4pt6yf8t To others reading this reply to the previous comment. These are bathroom panels, and the link below proves the person in the previous comment wrong. www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-PVCu-Marble-Effect-Interior-Cladding---250-x-2500mm/p/162657?fix&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhtWvBhD9ARIsAOP0GogxeE84wQofgHo2Mx8HRGt6Cydne5wTB5saCnnTc-4MzaBIIoVW4xEaAo04EALw_wcB# These are the panels I used from Wickes. As illustrated in the panel images on the wickes website link. They are used for bathrooms and showerooms. These videos are only here to help others do a similar job. Think of it this way, if I am doing these panels for my own houses and renting out the properties. Would I put materials in the bathroom that will cause me issues, or would I put reliable ones fit for purpose ? Having said that, we welcome your comments on our other videos and will keep these here for the public to make their own choice.
@@jlpropertychannel9900 those panels are used for the ceiling and not for a shower wall. I am sorry but as a landlord myself I would never use those panels for a bath wall which will cause water to leak and cause all sorts of other problems in years to come.
@user-iu4pt6yf8t @user-iu4pt6yf8t You are digging yourself hole, I have provided a link above to show the panels I used in this Video. The link clearly states it is for walls and ceilings. Landlords use this option a lot in order to reduce grout and silicone mould. It is also a cost-effective way to do a refurb on a rental, hence why this is one of my top viewed content on my channel. You can see this for yourself... Tiling also has its own issues with grouting in the future... every method has its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to the person viewing the video to decide their preferences according to their requirements. You stated in a previous comment that you are a director of a company ( spends more time giving free youtube comment consultations than getting paid for them via their company). Now you are claiming to be a Landlord ... I lost trust in what you are saying from your first comment. Once again, thanks for simulating my channel with your welcomed comments 😊
You have weakened your house from the foundation. The dpc injection will cause the brickwork to turn to dust. It wont stop penetrating damp from the walls and the plasterboard will get mould.
Hi, thanks for your opinion. We read and acknowledged what you wrote. It would be great to provide some constructive feedback along with your comment as well. Others and myself will benefit more from that. Please note that the repair we did in this video has done the trick for us. It has been 3 years now, and it is important to know this in line with all comments on this video. Looking forward to your constructive opinion...
@@jlpropertychannel9900 you have just hidden the problem of water penetration. The bricks need to breath and you have stopped them from doing that, they will hold the moisture and begin to spall. Weakening the foundations of the property, entire buildings need to be rebuilt because of this.
@@jlpropertychannel9900also the timber that you have just drilled onto the brickwork will also begin to rott as its drilled directly onto the basement walls. 3 years and its been ok, but you will most certainly need to redo the whole basement again.
@user-iu4pt6yf8t Hi, thanks for your constructive opinion. We would love it if you could leave some constructive feedback on any of our other videos. Thanks in advance
@user-iu4pt6yf8t We used treated timber with a damp proof membrane between the brick and timber to stop the transfer of moisture. Having said that, more comments are welcomed on our other videos. Thank you.
Hi there, at the time is cost us around £250 but now it would be around £350 at least with the increased prices due to inflation. But does your cellar flood ?
