I scaled that stage more times than I can count, lol! Big ass no stage diving sighns! During DRI they couldn't stop us, the vocalist told the bouncers to let us be or they would walk off. During Motorhead though I got put in an arm bar and escorted from the club for jumping off that 7 foot stage!!!(Guessing the height I was usually drunk) I'm 50 now and knees not happy with all that stuff, LOL!!!
I was at the last show Slipknot did at Harpos. The jagermeister tour…….. great fkin show. someone OD’d and died…. But other than that. It was epic and unforgettable. Had to carry my brother out of the pit. He was passing out Fkin great set. Not to mention Fear Factory played as well as Chimaira & 40 Below Summer.
I was at this show. I still remember the sound of this guy who stage dived head first and nobody caught him. You could hear a thud even over the music.
I’ve been to Harpos many times to see mainly Type O Negative & Danzig but also seen Children Of Bodom,Trivium,Clutch etc. Harpos is the of metal bars of metal bars!
The thing about Harpo’s is that the pit is a literal pit. It’s about 6-8 feet below the stage and it starts rising up in tiers ... so there’s a literal pit below the stage, then there’s a 1st level that’s at the same height as the stage with a railing, and then there’s a few more shorter tiers as it goes to the back. We always got there early to be dead center on that first level on the rail for the best view. Now, the back wall of the pit was for some reason carpeted. During heavy shows like Slipknot, this carpet was often torn off revealing the rusty staples, tacks, whatever that was supposed to keep it up. So, you’d have this literal pit with a wall of rusty metal spikes that people tried to throw each other into. Then you have the industrial garbage can surfing (which he actually tells a story about in a different video) ... And at a Slipknot show, people were leaping over our heads (remember 1st level even with stage) onto unsuspecting people below in that pit. Stage diving onto the BACKS of unsuspecting people’s heads from about 8-10 feet up (over us @6ft tall+ drop into pit). Hopefully THOSE guys were thrown into the rusted spike wall!
Since you went back 2 other times...almost doesn't count...lol . Once you are in that pit it was harder to get out...at least we all have stories to tell from that place.
@@bravoromeojohndepends on what band it is. Not all pits were intense there. BLS, Hatebreed, LoG. I've seen these bands there and many others and the most pits weren't too bad. Most people are standing there and watching the band
I was at this show, forget I'd they played with Coal chamber or biohazard but the first 4 times they played Harpo's was INSANE! Not the stage wall he talks about in this video, but the wall that separates the main floor/pit from the next taller level behind the floor literally was RIPPED from the floor and thrown onto the people on the lower floor at their headlining show for their first Iowa tour!!!! The wall was about 4' tall and maybe 40-50 feet wide. Pure fucking energy and craziness! Amazing, amazing, amazing shows!
