I also make some reviews and I want to be honest and confident in all my reviews. So far all the stuff I have review is something I have bought with my own money - so you are sure that I am not paid to give a good review! All is our own objective opinion. We won't review a car before we have used it for a long time. If I get free stuff to review (haven't got any so far) I will tell so in the videos and stay as objective as I can to keep this channel trustworthy.
Do you like us to review stuff, then send us an email.
Pretty amazing lap times...are you using stock radio? Also did you loosen diffs and grease them? Did that also improve track times? Thanks for sharing i have the green truck version on the way..😊
Hi, I am using stock radio in this video, only modification is making the car turn sharper and loosen up diffs but not grease as described here: Upgrade drive train WLToys K989, K969 or 284131 | fix stiff, sticky differentials ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vw0_qGlPOTs.html
I this video I replace the radio, for K989 it’s a huge improvement: WLToys K989/K969/284131 radio upgrade FlySky FS-GT3B with EXP, Exponential. Improve steering. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_LAe7qcECkY.html
It works great with locked front diff, all the 1:10 scale cars has that, made this video about it: WLToys K989, 284131 will it be faster with a locked front differential? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IaK9rInmT_s.html

@@LyhneRC Thank you again! These 1/24-1/28 cars are so much fun. I’d like to see them become more popular in my area, even batting around the idea of building a multi track facility w/ hobby shop here in Hunt Valley MD. Years ago we had a carpet track and hobby shop, but sadly nothing in a long time😞
@SC4DR1 There is nothing where we live either. So we simply made it ourselves , first we founded a club, then got an area that was just a weed field and now one year later we have this: Aarhus RC Bashers Åbnings Event - 2. Juni 2024 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ojoC6zuXo4k.html
@@LyhneRC That's awesome! I've made a few tracks over the years with friends in old dirt bike riding spots, but I'm in the position to do it legit now. The thing that scares me, is it's a disposable hobby.
Hi, in that case I would recommend upgrading the radio - it make a huge difference for K989. The radio for K989 is pretty bad (it's better for 284131 and 284010). I am using this radio on my K989 and it has several benefits: It has no dead spots, you can reduce speed and it has EXP, see more about that in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_LAe7qcECkY.html
The q4 yellow car is the Esteban Ocon of this track wreaking havoc on all others with complete disregard of the cars in front of him, just driving right through them….
@@LyhneRC You are very naive or blind. In 1st main, he drives through the blue car and doesn’t wait. In the 2nd main, he drives through the red car twice and both times he doesn’t wait.
@@joneskimracing2932I didn’t argue against what he did, he did make some bad moves and hit my son. I just told that he didn’t do it because he wanted to ram other cars. He is not a very experienced driver and made some bad moves that resulted in collisions. If I remember correctly then this was one of the first races he participated in - if it was an experienced driver it would be another case. But for a rookie, this can happen. The judge/marchall should have given him a penalty, but failed to do so - I find that a bigger problem
Nice video great comparison i got plans on building a track like the first 1 you showed so im going to get my son and i a pair of the wltoys but in the future i want to build the 2nd track then we will get a pair of mini z
Hi, I will add image of the mounting in an upcoming video, so hang on for that 😊. I use two cameras: A forward looking GoPro on a standard GoPro mount which I have attached to the battery with tape. And a 360 camera mounted on a homemade bracket attached to the rear bulkhead. Which of the body shells do you want a link to, then I will try to see if I can find that?
Hello. I just bought 284131. The drivetrain feels so sticky when playing. It stops when i release throttle. I have watched your fix video. I checked my rear diff. It's not too tight actually. It can move. The pinion and spur gears can also move quite freely when i spin them with hand. Im not sure what caused it so sticky when playing. Anyway, you mentioned somewhere not to over tighten the screws of diff. Which screws you mean? i found 3 tiny screws, and 1 tiny screw in center (which i failed to unscrew).
Hi, there is a lot of internal resistance in the motor so this car will always stop abruptly when releasing the throttle. If you are in doubt try disengaging the motor, then the car should run freely with almost no resistance. Regarding the screws in the diff, then I noticed that if I tightened too much then a freely moving diff would become tight again. Guess the plastic is so thin that you can bend it, so just keep an eye on that 👍
The cheapo aluminum difs from ebay are a great upgrade to fix the issues you are describing. With a little time spent, the WL cars can become quite enjoyable to drive.
I own both types as well. I think there is some gear mesh issues in the Wltoys. The rolling resistance is terrible. The tires are not very good for actual racing either due to the hard compound. Its easy to work on and the price is good. Depending on where and when you get one..3 can be obtained for the price of a mini Z. The mini Z is really good out of the box. The 4 AAA batteries give it a mechanical traction advantage once its moving. The rear differential is excellent and its overall top speed is much better as well.
Thanks for all the info, I can support that 👍. Regarding the rolling resistance the 284010 is better than K989 and 284131. Have you tried this trick: Upgrade drive train WLToys K989, K969 or 284131 | fix stiff, sticky differentials ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vw0_qGlPOTs.html
Regarding more traction you can get so much that the car starts to traction roll on carpet by using tire sauce. See more here: WLToys K989, 284131, Mini-Q will tire additive make them faster? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R4TGSu7NmBQ.html
@LyhneRC excellent. I have not. I've been out of the hobby for a few months it seems. Adding insulation and extra storage in my garage and currently working on protecting my workshop against my dogs and also adding a layer of insulation. Greetings from Texas. That's some good information you have.
i dont know a lot about these cars but i do know the kyosho mini z is stupid expensive for what it is, also id much prefer the 4 wheel independent suspension and the lipos battery of the wl toys car, also you could probably get the wil toys handling a lot better with better tyres, yes the mini z looks a lot better with the scale bodys but if i had to get chose id get a wl toys with some mini z tyres and body
For racing I agree, but the AWD mini Z is worth every penny for drifting. I’ve owned a k969 and the experience of driving the mini z vs the k969 is incomparable
I agree. The mini-z is a better car for sure, but the price is ridiculous for what you get. You can get a 1:10 car for that price. I own a Mini-Q which is a Mini-Z clone, but that is no way as good. I have bought two Mini-Z used, then the price is not that bad.
@@LyhneRC yeah honestly even the AWD is overpriced in my opinion but honestly there’s just nothing better you can get at this scale. I think $150 RTR with gyro and lights would be a fair price
@genboxofficial7417 Correct, they are THE best 1:24 and they know it, that’s why they are some expensive. Could be great if some other company made one as good but more affordable. Then they would probably lower the price
Great comparison video! Is there a way to make the 284010 fiesta rally body fit onto the 284161 chassis? I think it would be great and just maybe need to cut the wheel wells on the body a bit bigger to clear the bigger wheels, but make a more capable rally car;)
As far as I can see the only things you need is front and rear bodyposts part number K989-50 and K989-51, the 284010 body shell and some small screws. You could consider also using the cheaper K989/K969 body shell which has same measurements or the 284131 body. You got me inspired, maybe I will also make this conversion - it would look great 👍
I looked at the exploded views of both a 3S and 4S Arrma and all the ball ends seems to have different numbers. But the screw going through the eye of the pivot ball is 3mm for both 3S and 4S, so my guess it that you should be able to use TRX5525 also for Arrma 4S, but you might need more or less shims.
Det havde jeg faktisk tænkt at jeg ville putte i videoen, men glemte det 😱. Jeg skriver det i beskrivelsen og laver et card til din side hvis jeg kan 😀
Hi, it was originally cut with a lawn-tractor and then with "walk behind" lawn mower on lowest possible setting. When the grass is so short and you start driving on it with 1:10+ scale cars the grass will quickly we worn and partly disappear. The biggest problem is that when the grass starts to disappear, then there tends to be small patches with "tough grass" as small bumpy islands - that hadn't happen yet when the video was recorded.
Great video. Thanks. Do you know a Vetter servo which withstands more bumps? Our broke inside. The gears lost some teeth's because the kids drove into a wall with the front tire. Are there servos with metal gears?
Hi, so far I haven't broken a servo yet, but I have heard good talk about this metal gear servo: www.banggood.com/custlink/KmKPuF02av. So that one I will buy when I break a servo. To further protect the servo you could also use a servo saver like this one: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006750134547.html
If you order 284161, be prepared to have to upgrade/change the steering servo. I bought two of them and servos seized and became. non-functional after using it for about an hour. The replacent servo has metal internal gears and seems to have lasted more than an hour.
Ok, good advice. So far I have used mine about 10 hours and the stock servo still runs fine. I haven't had any servo issues on any of my WLToys 1/28. Maybe you just had an unlucky batch - but still pretty annoying
I know right? Bad luck from two different vendors! Ive seen people running them pretty hard on RU-vid. At least people can know replacement servos can work if needed.
Hi, the type of the carpet is called “needle felt”. In Denmark they have it in all shops selling carpets. It’s the cheapest type they have. I don’t know the pile height but it can’t be much as the carpet is very flat
