Awesome build. i was originally going to just buy a little firepit, but im a big DIY'r and plan to build my own outdoor patio furniture, so might as well do this too. thank for the video. those ABS plastic drains won't have an issue with the heat?

Does the fence actually stay true when setting up for a measurement? My current table saw when I set my fence to say 8 inches, the place closest to the fence handle will be 8 inches from the blade but the far end will be 1/16th of an inch off or so. So I have to constantly measure the front and back of my blade to the fence and keep taping the fence over and over again to make sure I'm perfectly parallel. I'm wanting to upgrade my saw and love the SawStop but the Laguna F2 seems perfect for my needs, with a lower price tag. I just don't want to have another fence with this issue
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
Hey there, mine stays very true. It has adjustment screws for setting it up square and once you do, you should be good to go. I haven't had any issues with it.

What did you use for slurry??
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
You can use just cement and water or mix in some really fine sand to go with it.
@patty109109
@patty109109 Год назад
I’ve done this before. Use a baking strainer and run the original mix through it. Then you’re left with fine sand and cement and it works very well. I’ve always added some acrylic fortifier (Home Depot) when I do the slurry for extra adherence though I dunno if it’s necessary or not.

Does the concrete hold up to the heat or has it gotten brittle?
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
It held up very well, there is no direct flame on the concrete. The fire glass gets very hot and maybe in time something will deteriorate. That's why I recommend getting the stainless drop in pan.

How can I slow down curing time
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626 2 года назад
Ambient temperature plays a big role in curing time. Cooler temps will give you more working time. I believe the mix I used already has a plasticizer in it as well. Is it your worried you wont be able to pour the whole thing in time? I would caution against just adding more water as well. That will cause strength loss and issues down the road.
@layneupcott6089
@layneupcott6089 Год назад
Continuously spray the concrete with water .. light water tho not to heavy
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@@layneupcott6089 yes that is optimal strategy for the concrete to cure to its max strength. Not sure if he was referring to working time or the actual curing process?

Nice builld! I have a few questions though, as I'd like to give this a try. Does the gas tank tuck up inside the table, ... or is it too hot in there for that? I guess my gas grill does so? How much does the entire thing weigh? Is it a light weight concrete mix? Can two people move it around easily or do you pretty much want to set it and not move it? Roughly what was you total end cost?
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626 2 года назад
This was hooked up to natural gas so no tank but the design would essentially be the same just a bit taller. One thing to note is that you do need to have the base ventilated. I achieved that by spacing the boards just slightly apart all around the base. The top is easily moved by 2 people since it is separate from the base. My guess maybe 125lbs? It is not a lightweight mix, just the Quikcrete countertop mix. Has finer aggregate than a normal mix. I think end total is materials was around $500? Not too bad, but that will vary depending what part of the country your in. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

REMEMBER KIDS to use black pipe, not galvanized. Fire and galvanized pipes can create a very toxic smoke as the zinc burns off. Soo burn off the zinc(risky) or don't use galvanized pipes.

It really does cut it just fine, figured my issue might have been the fact I’m using a 15amp extension outlet… on a 20amp outlet I’m sure it wouldn’t have stalled out. That’s pretty incredible what you can do with a cordless tablesaw though!

this in no way is criticism because it looks super nice, but the glue you used on the door may not last too long. i "believe" that titebond 2 is not waterproof so if this thing is outside, it might start to fail after a couple of years. i could totally be wrong and you can tell me to get lost! lol
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626 2 года назад
Your right I didn’t think about that when I was building it. Should have at least used titebond III or better epoxy with a stretcher board screwed to it on the inside. The good thing is the concrete overhangs so it won’t ever get “soaked” per say. Good eye!

Appreciate the Pro/Con review and you noting how you use it. One question I have about this saw and several others I have looked at/considered few people think to review/comment on. That is how easy or not it is to change from riving knife to splitter and back again. Some saws make it so awkward that people start using the saw without either, not a great option. Could you comment on how you find the Fusion with this function.. Thx.
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626 2 года назад
The riving knife comes on and off very easily with a flip lock lever. I have not used the blade guard/overhead dust collection system very much if that’s what your referring to.

I ordered my F2 just minutes before the price increase last year. What I received a couple of months later was the upgraded F2 with the digital readout and a great saw overall. I had the 220 conversion kit and when I went to change it over the wiring was completely different (thanks to the DRO) and so I wrote Laguna about it. Seems I was the first to change it over and they had to get back to me. It took a few weeks but they finally wrote with the updated instructions. Must say that 220 is the way to go. I went to make sure that everything was lined up and everything spec'd out... not as easy to adjust if things were out of alignment I think. Overall, I'm super pleased with this machine and every time I walk into my shop I kinda pinch myself that I have something that's stepped up my hobby of woodworking. Thanks for your review

Great job! It looks beautiful. Really appreciate seeing your mistakes too, so many people gloss over them and it’s just unrealistic. We all make mistakes, and especially with wood being a natural product you can’t ever really know what you’re getting into. On a more practical note, I wonder though how much it makes sense to use epoxy on a cutting surface; if it doesn’t damage your knife edge, one would think the epoxy itself will suffer scratches over time. ?
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626
@timbercreekwoodcraft-ryanp5626 2 года назад
Thanks! Yea the epoxy is really not the best for a cutting board that’s going to get a lot of use as it will scratch easily. For this project the customer that ordered it said he didn’t mind, he just wanted that design. Wood inlay would have been the best but it’s just not very economical as it takes a lot more labor time to produce. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the great overall review of the Laguna F2! I'd love it if more people that owned this would put more videos out on it. I think SawStop gets a lot of default new purchases simply because it's everywhere! And this is a true GOOD! replacement for that as a new woodworker. I purchased mine about a year ago thanks to ShopNation's video. I'd been wanted to upgrade from my Dewalt contractor saw for a while, but the intro pricing on virtually any brand of true cabinet saw was pretty daunting! And the middle ground area wasn't that appealing. But the F2 is a truly great saw, especially for the money. Thanks again for your review. I look forward to seeing what you make with it!

Two things for anyone who wants to duplicate this. 1) Every commercial available burner insert will include instructions that state that the burner enclosure must not be made of flammable material (in this case wood). 2) Those instructions will also state that you need two vents (ideally opposite sides) with a minimum area of 18 square inches.

Thank you for the video. I also am a garage user of the saw, but mine does not have the digital readout. I purchased mine 2 years ago. My son and I make furniture (more of a modern take) but am learning more professional methods… dovetails, Domino, mortise / tenon, etc. I do agree on the flex tube hose above the blade. Yup, it works, but it seems a bit cheesy, as does the bracket. I love the fence. Cannot find any complaint. Truthfully, I love having a professional table saw. My former was a Rigid contractor-style pop-up. I still have it, but probably may never really use it much ever again. Over the past two years, I have had really great success and no downside issues. I don’t use the miter gage, as I purchased an Incra and a fence… also highly recommend the Rockler miter sled and drop off accessory. Thanks, and enjoy making things! Michigan says hi!

It's cool to hear from other users of this saw. It's weirdly hard to find good/detailed reviews of it, like this one here! I plan to do one eventually when I make a channel hopefully... but not quite there yet. Glad to hear how you use your saw @Rick. I have the same pre-digital read out version. like 2 months pre... ugh.. but they raised the price of the saw $200 adfter that update so i'm good.
