But, their purpose is to save a dying economy at the expense of higher long term rates, until the collapse happens - in other words the rate cuts are designed to “kick the can down the road” at the expense of a worse collapse. compare the 2 year treasury yield to the Fed Funds rate. you will see that over time the Fed essentially follows the 2 year. so if the two year is substantially different that the current fed rate that is the main way ppl quote what is "priced in". Very crude way of looking at it though,

I now turn off any YT vid that refers to 'RECESSION'. The problem now is that the word 'RECESSION' is meaningless because the elite have moved the goalposts of the definition so many frigging times. A 'RECESSION' for the middle/lower class means something entirely different to the elite version. Discussing the possibility of a 'RECESSION' is just pointless.
All this talk of recession is becoming pointless because everyone knows the Treasury and Political Reserve will do everything in their power to prop asset prices. There won't be a reset of anything so a recession will only hurt the poorest of the population.
I’m a big fan of Steve Hanks’s no nonsense approach to economics. As an Australian 🇦🇺 I recognise that we have an obsession in real estate in Australia. My question is; Do we need an inflation goal? What would happen if there was 0% inflation? Would economic growth slow down if prices were kept steady? Would people spend less if their houses weren’t increasing in value? Would this decrease the speculative investing in real estate and make houses more affordable to the younger generation? Japan had deflation in past years, but could they have achieved a better economy with flat prices?

With long and variable lags the excess inflation would come out over 36-40 months, that it did not persist at 9% was because of the Fed increasing interest rates and QT.
