Hi guys , what are the main differences between the phase pro boa and the control boa ? Ive just received my control boa and they feel slightly small as my toes are a bit uncomfortable at the end , and ive just noticed the phase pro for almost the same price , this is my first pair of boots but i would class myself maybe low end of intermediate usually hire all my gear . Thanks
I've replaced my Controls (my first boot purchase) with the Phase Pros. The second boa on the Control tightens the lower half of the lacing, whereas the one on the Phase Pro tightens an internal lace around your ankle. Solves my heel lift problem and the board feels more responsive and well.. in control. The one issue I had was that on one of my first days on the slopes, the lacing came apart. Boa will replace for free because of the lifetime warranty. They say to replace both sides so they're "even", but I didn't want to fix what wasn't broken. At the end of this past season the same thing happened on the other side. I think in the factory the terminal end of the lace was never properly done (you have to knot it and then melt the end). I didn't have any replacement lacing and tried to go back to the Controls but as soon as I put them on they just didn't feel "secure" enough, for lack of a better word. I did not feel solidly intermediate until switching to the Phase Pros (next step is a more technical board haha). This is secondary, but the Phase Pros also have a thinner liner - this is the 22/23 ones vs 2020/21 Control. Same size. They are easier to get on and off but not noticeably different in fit while riding (other than the heel hold, which was drastic for me). I believe that 22/23 release of the Pros was the first, and the internal lacing is patent pending, so I was kind of a guinea pig and they may have improved on the design last season.
Helemet never suffered any impact, yet snaps turned tarnished from sweat and broke after two years. The insert cannot be attached anymore. Can not recommend.
I will be honest, since NIKE changed the insole I also had to size up. I believe they ( NIKE ) kept the shoes patterns the same and didn't alter it to match the thicker insole. I was a bit disappointed to be honest as my previous Janoski's has the older insole allow for more " room " inside the shoe. I still love these shoes but just take note of the thicker insole and less room inside the shoe.
I have one of these in 176W. One of your guys at the store sold me on it. However you did not have it in the correct size so I told him order me one and call me one it comes in. He never did, I bought it from REI and came in and got a stomp pad. Told the kid who had sold me on it that I bought it elsewhere. He went I still have your number right here. Should have called me. Great board, slow leaves a lot to be desired. Had a fantastic time on it out west in a foot of powder at Big Sky and Breckenridge.
Looking for a new all mountain board. I love riding deep pow in the trees throughout Park City and Utah. In addition, I love burning down long run 55 to 65 mph and have stability with no chatter. I also ride switch often? Maybe I need to separate boards? I wasn’t crazy about my last TR pro horsepower from Lib Tech and almost pulled the trigger on the golden orca. Any opinions. The Never Summer Harpoon and Proto ultra also look good. I’m 5’8.5 and weight 172 foot size 11. Please send me some options and I’m not afraid to spend on a good ride
been on these for 2 years. have enjoyed for the most part, though the forward lean design SUCKS. set it so it looks like its at 3... it'll be 1 by the time you're strapped in, and there's gonna be give the more pressure you put on heelside. and if your screwdriver isn't an absolutely perfect size match to the screws (none of the ones at the resort here nor the few on my Dakine tool are), you're gonna end up stripping them trying to get tight enough - and probably at some point have the boot pressure push them all the way forward cuz not tight enough to withstand so back to ZERO forward lean. for as expensive a binding as these are, Burton really sh!t the bed with this particular aspect of the design. aside from that... if you want the stiff option in EST, this is your only one. which kinda sucks, as there'd surely be far superior alternatives at way better value for non-EST. downsizing boots and gonna have to change binding too and in a predicament cuz like the board feel of the EST and stiffness on my Endeavor boards, but really not keen on paying $200 more than equivalent top-of-the-line options for it. probably gonna go for Rome Cleaver, Bataleon Astro or Union Falcor and hope their mini-discs get close to the same board feel - and will likely be more satisfied that way IF so...
I'm a disabled vet getting active later in life. Never been been boarding but i love ice skating and rollerblading. How expensive is it for a broke guy with a family to get into snowboarding?
Love the low pro but still lot of ankle and heel support. def nice to help not beat up ur heels as much. I recently hurt my heel pretty bad and i think cus previous skate shoes didnt have much support and moved around to much.
