Got a nine-year-old Turkish Van about a decade ago, and he lived to be nearly nineteen. His recent loss left a very big hole in the house (and a few hearts) since his was an oversized, exuberant personality. It's all the more remarkable since the last place he was before he was at my house was a place that had 47 cats in a one-bedroom townhouse and became Animal Control's worst nightmare. He was a little skittish in the first weeks at my house, but he settled down and turned into the most affectionate character. I was always blown away by his intelligence, and although I've had a dozen or so cats over the last four decades, I'd have to say this one was up at the genius IQ level and was about the smartest of them all. I am trying to find his breeders now, in the hope that 20 years later they're still in business or can at least point me at the bloodline that produced my guy. The next cat in my house will definitely be a Turkish Van.
<---This was my adopted, female Maine Coon, that I had for over 3 years! Female, "orange" Maine Coons are rare and mine was even more rare, because she never even meowed, unless I asked her a question, and even then, it was almost silent! She never went to the bathroom on the floor! She never threw up a furball, even though she cleaned herself constantly! I never even took her to the vet, because she was an indoor cat that didn't even sneeze! She never left my side. When I was on the computer, she laid on my desk, watching my every move! When I took a shower, she'd sit on the closed toilet seat and wait for me to get out! When I left my apartment, she'd watch me from the window and be waiting for me when I got back home! Each day I fed her two packs of Sheba, Savory Chicken Entrée Pate, along with as many Temptations Catnip Treats as she wanted...and she never went overboard, by eating too many! When I went to bed, she'd wrap both of her front paws around my wrist and lay her head in the palm of my hand, until I went to sleep, that's when she'd go and lay at the foot of the bed until I got up! She'd spend hours looking out the window at people, birds and dogs, until it was time for us to play. I've owned several other cats in my lifetime, but not one even came close to being as purr-fect as my Abby! I would cut off my left arm to have her back!
I just adopted one from a shelter. Didnt know it was a nebelung(never heard of em) but he is so unique lookin that I googled it. The rescue shelter neutered him, chopped(shaved) off large patches of matted hair, and half an ear(TNR) so he is a bit disheveled but still a beautiful cat. Very shy but loves to be rubbed. I only have him 3days so only beginning to come out of his shell now. I have noticed he gets very hyper around 11:30pm for some reason. He seems smart. I can see him lookin at windows/skylights and planning his escape haha. Anyway hopefully he bonds with me(lookin good so far) and after a few weeks loses the urge to escape. He is a stunning cat. Hopefully this is the beginning of a great(and long) friendship !
I know a friend of mine who has a cat who starts her car with her right paw. A lot of people including me because I've never heard of a cat starting your car when it's right paw, and besides that cats do not start cars.
My Bengal mix (mostly Bengal!) is low-key and quite sweet. It’s nice to read some pure Bengals also have this type of personality. I’ve been told Bengals usually have very different personality traits.
You might have got some of this cats history wrong. It turn out the Americans thay found them in Singapore actually brought them from the u.s according to documentation. They were were cat breeders known for breeding abysians, burmese, siamese cat breeds and it is now thought they have bred abysian with burmese to make the singapura cat.
after you bathe them spray them parsley or some green juice. it keeps ticks and fleas. Also snakes don't like those scents. Snakes also do not like citrus or lavender. so use something that will make the snake think its an orange/lemon around
There are so many wonderful loving cats at your local shelter that will know you saved them and they never let you forget how much they love you. Spending ridiculous amount s of money on kittens when you can give A homeless pet A loving home. Do you know how many cats you can spay and neuter with that kind of money? Saving homeless animals from their horrible street life is worth SO much more for Han A designer cat. Priorities?
I have a 5yr old 21lbs maine coon boy. So far, he is very healthy and happy and loving. He gets the occasional knot in his coat. But yes, the fur shedding is a constant battle. But it's worth it. They are beautiful.
