Thank you for the Video. I also have 19ft pontoon with 2 min Kota trolling motors which are so slow its painful. I am looking to upgrade to a more powerful electric motor. The Newport you installed looks just right for what i also need, not expensive as other electric motors. on the video you already have a tilt trim with your previous 2 motors. what brand or what type of trim would you recommend for pontoon to install the Newport nk300, because the bracket that comes with the motor is for kayak. Thank you, very helpful video .
The trim came with the pontoon boat when I bought it used some years ago so I don't have any recommendations but I'll take a look and see if I can find out what the brand is.
Thank you for the reply. Are you still happy with the trolling motor that you installed? I am looking at the same setup up as you put on your boat. When I called newport to asked them about pontoon istallationon , the nk300, the your man was clueless about how to install it on pontoon. He only knew about the kayak. Your video is so good how to install on pontoon. Did you make any more videos on this installation. Thank you so much. Tom
Nice job! Impressive that a kayak outboard can push that large of a pontoon boat. We are on an all electric lake also and I need to do something like this for our 16 foot pontoon boat. How much run time are you getting from that lithium battery before you need to recharge it?
I haven't reached the time yet. At 50% run I'm going over and hour and I'm charging it without it being low. I may do another video showing more detail on speed and run time.
I really do wish they would implement some Spot Lock technology into these electric outboards. It's just a tiny computer after all, just like most trolling motors, it shouldn't be that hard, yet, none of them are doing it. I see a lot of potential in this NK version, as it can be literally console mounted like you did or simply taken along with you on those small 12, 14 or 16ft vessels, rather than being a "tiller" like the NT version is... much more useful... I would jump on it if it had a Spot Lock technology, but I'll have to pass on those outboards until they do so.
Impressive that it pushes the boat that well. Also impressive that I can see the aqua color of clean water there. Most of Florida water is brown or covered with toxic algae from agricultural pollution. I live by Cape Canaveral and would not swim in the water near here.
Nice video and I really like your creativity! I'm interested in learning more about electric boats and this video helped. I love being on the water but do not like the sound / noise or smells of the fuel with outboard or inboard combustion engines. I love sailing but that's not easy on rivers where I live. So checking out options for electric boats. Many purpose build electrics are way too expensive. I like the idea of electrifying an old pontoon boat to bring it back to new clean use! Thanks and keep up the posts.
Very much enjoyed your video! During your careers did you pay into social security, and does SSI play in your future plans? Also, do you plan to rollover your 401K to an IRA for greater investment options? Great info Thx
