I thought they were self tensioning. Can't you just loosen the two screws and then the set screw....let it self tension and then tighten everything up?

yes, the springs are there to establish the proper belt tension and make the operation easier.

Cool! How are you achieving this mix of stability and agility? I’ve been of the opinion that wobbles stem from rear trucks having opposite steering to the fronts, and are usually initiated when the weight balance goes too far back or during bump steer over rough terrain. Usually the fixes are harder bushings in back, which also fights turning and creates outer wheel lift, or adding a negative angled mount to decrease turning to lean ratio. I’ve been reversing(flipping) my rear trucks in combination with surf adapters and/or high turning trucks like Major Arc. This gives a slight turn in on rears creating huge stability while the front has so much steering that I’m still nimble. Provides even better carve feel as the rear makes a much narrower wave pattern tracking, and cornering is much more confidence inspiring.
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 10 месяцев назад
ROSA stands for Rake, Offset and Split Angle. Working with an aspiring pro downhiller, through manipulation of these three levers, we achieve a set up that is ridiculously carvy while insanely stable.
@sageoz9886
@sageoz9886 10 месяцев назад
@@Hoytskate okay so you’ve basically created a near zero degree effective rear truck. I’m telling you guys it’s because skateboards still employ rear negative degree trucks from skateparks, RKP or not. You could easily have a flat mounting and just make a rear truck that leans flat with no turning or a slightly positive (5-10 degrees)in parallel to the front.
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 10 месяцев назад

@@Hoytskate if you guys haven’t seen the Major Arc trucks I suggest you to try one out on the front. They have independently turning wheels employing Ackerman and they carve. Also a low ride height. It would be awesome to see them being employed on a production board. Paired with a appropriate rear truck set-up it’d be quite 👍
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 10 месяцев назад
@@sageoz9886 thanks. we'll def check them out. for us, its more about whats going on in the rear than the front. in general terms, front is about the carve, rear is about stability. at least in our current interpretation.

For 3,5k, this must have serious USP. What makes your board stand out from the competitors? Some amazing products out there for less than half the cost. Just asking for a friend...
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 2 года назад
We are pulling together a video detailing all this. But saying there are boards at half the cost is like saying the same of a Porsche. We spent >3 years in R&D to bring this to life. We build our decks in the US so we cant compete with the Chinese boards on cost. Instead, we focus on premium quality components to ensure the client is riding the board rather than repairing it. 100% bamboo dualdeck hand crafted in Portland Oregon, Molicel P42A battery by Duck Battery Systems, trucks engineered with input from accomplished downhill racers for an optimally stable ride at speed coupled with a tight turning radius, 7" pneumatic tires that have been designed specifically for esk8 and rated for speed (5 hours straight at 31mph) rather than appropriated from another industry, and of course the Hoyt Puck, offering the most stable connection in esk8. Finally, we hope to keep our boards on the road as long as possible so we service our boards. And we're generally shipping in a week rather than 4-6 weeks.
@chobofo
@chobofo 2 года назад
Yea man, thats what I'm tryin to say when I looked at the numbers. For example heres the Lacriox Nazare specs at about the same price: 1073wh - 18s4p (Molicel-INR21700-P42A) Motors 6389 - 130kv Range 20-40 miles (34-64 km) Max Speed more than you need. The numbers aren't remotely close. It's sounds like your paying a premium for a lot of big words being used, just bein real, and they want you to believe all other competitors components will constantly fail and theirs won't ever fail. I really don't want to shit on someones elses parade, but c'mon man , strip away the names and take a hard look at the numbers and what you are getting.
@TheDarkrad3r

@@chobofo Hi! I'm an engineer at Hoyt. If you were to price out a LaCroix Jaws (same exact battery as the UAV) with their version of a CNC aluminum wheel (theirs look fantastic) and include shipping (our shipping is free) the Jaws comes out to more than the UAV. Also our top speed is 38mph, about the same as the Jaws. Hope this is helpful! :)
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 2 года назад
@@chobofo Yes, indeed, it's important to look at the numbers. We naturally have as well. We feel our price is competitive with comparable North American built product if you factor everything in. If you had visibility to our costs, you would understand that our price is extremely fair. At this stage of our business life, we're still very much a non-profit organization, lolz.

@@chobofo Skate it side by side with UAV. The experience is totally different, and in a good way. You can have something that feels like a Sprinter Van or a slick sports car coup - even though the price is the same and Sprinter boasts a bigger gas tank/off road capabilities etc.

Don't get me wrong, this is really cool and I really like it but the board costs almost four grand. Thats practically a car. Now I have to decide weather I want a car or a board.
@Hoytskate
@Hoytskate 2 года назад
Just like with cars, you can go entry level and pay a lot less or go upmarket and pay a lot more. Usually a high price tag get you more performance and/or features, which not everybody wants, needs or can afford. In our case, however, we build our boards in the US and can't afford to compete at the entry level; we're offering a premium product with the highest quality components for reliability, safety and durability. We also offer after service and are generally shipping the UAV in a week or less. Finally, we've spent three years on R&D to innovate trucks that are supremely stable and a remote control that is near impossible to lose connectivity. So, yes, it is an expensive board but, we believe, worth every penny. Hopefully you'll have a chance to demo one and see for yourself. Happy trails.
