C605 LFT, ex stagecoach, started life at busways, before being left to rot, then towed away to be bought back to life in 2002. 15k later and it came back alive
@@rikkilamb951The Fastline versions were Gardner and later some where re-engined to Gardener but the vast majority were powered by Rolls Royce Eagle engines. The sound of a Rolls Royce at full thrash was a joyous experience.
I'm sure that's tees bus used be on redcar depot for 81 service there had Redcar to stoksley 281/ 81 And x93 Middlesbrough to Scarborough leyland Olympics and Bristol vr Original livery was red yellow sash red Red top or yellow bottom
It is a shame. I used to be on the build of theses coaches in the late eighties. They were a great coach to build. A dirty great Cummins diesel in the back. Tales of them pulling wheelies up the side if the factory! (I think they left the weights out for fun!) Blokes welding 12mm brackets on which shook the frame whilst you worked on it (no health and safety then!)
That one definitely sounds like a Gardner to me. It has a more guttural rumble to it. I travelled on the RR versions while living in Sheffield for 9 years in the 80s.
I had one in the same livery after the tally ho blue,,it was converted to camper (not a hippie bus)😂 and last I heard it was in France I sold it in 97' I still remember the reg, SPK 117M ,,ECW with a powerplus 400 engine , I really enjoyed summer holidays with it, and the odd trip to Sainsbury's for the weekly shop 😂
this Leyland national served at midland red south for a number of years and now it,s nice to see that it survived into preservational well done to it,s new owners for saving it because it,s another quality service bus that lives and breathes again
OMG!!! Barry I haven't seen that bus for years! I recognized it straight away as soon as the video up loaded. The Fleet number and the registration number our the same and if it serves me right? Was this in Whitley Bay bus Station doing services for 343 and 344 all them years ago? Just to let you know that am a railway, bus and old vehicle enthusiast.
