This guy put the Lime wedge into his lime squeezer upside down (inverted.) The Lime is supposed to be in the concave position. That's why he didn't get very much Lime Juice when he squeezed it.
I understand the late 19th c. French artist and party boy Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec invented this and offered it to visitors to his own digs , which makes sense, since he frequented the cabarets and brothels of the Montmartre District (then) just outside Paris. He patronized and memorialized the entertainers, customers, and goings on at the Moulin Rouge among other famous attractions. One of my favorite artists, and although I'm going to cut this in half, it may soon become one of my favorite cocktails!
Also, you may be impressed to know, that in the United States and Canada, Sprite does not count as lemonade. Lemonade in the US is fresh squeezed lemon, still later and sugar, it is typically made at home or on the farm. As time went on, and Lemon and Lime Sodas became popular in other parts of the world, people started calling it lemonade. Almost every other culture will give you Sprite, 7up, Almdudler, etc when you ask for lemonade, but, order lemonade in the US and you will be given a fresh-squeezed glass of virgin whisky sour.
The recibe is with demarara syrup, diferent taste...and put de 45 ml of sparkling Windows first...to mixing well with the rest going up, for the density...🇨🇺🇺🇲💪
May I say, that this video is terrible. First of all the ratios are all over the place. Too much vermouth. Should we talk about Ballantines and Martini extra dry really? Could have sourced just better products. Noilly Prat, Dolin extra dry, Mancino and so on. Martini Rosso is kinda ok - but also not exceptional. And Ballantines? Even Dewars is better... Or Glenmorangie X (this would be pretty awesome) - or Chivas Regal... Oh - then no mixing glass? And not a martini glass (or at least a cocktail coupe) but a margarita glass? I know - sometimes you got to make compromises - but at this step, I really have to ask, if we really *need* this video on RU-vid????
The only video I could find talking about the real Rose cocktail. Unfortunately, that's the wrong Kirsch. It's supposed to be an eau de vie, an Obstbrand (in German). It's clear, with a more spirit forward palate. Additionally, it's traditionally made with redcurrant (Groseille) syrup.
Sure, I'll sub. Let's see where this goes. Best of luck with the channel! The 9:1 gin:vermouth is... a bit British, but fair enough. Elderflower? I love it with gin. StG is pricey but I haven't found its equal. Chardonnay... eeehhh... be careful with this ingredient. Traditionally oaked Frensh versions can be great. The California stuff that's pumped up with diacetyl (artificial butter flavor)... ehhh... As important as the wine (vermouth) is in a Martini, it's gonna be doubly (heh) important here. Make sure you're getting ingredients that are good quality and that play well together. Lots of variations on all 4 of those bottles, and they're not all going to do well together.
sounds tasty. great presentation. Out of curiosity, I know you mentions Prince Charles in beginning. Is the cocktail the same just upgrading name or is there a difference between Prnice Charles and King Charles Cocktails? Thanks for sharing. cheers.
