Susan Carlson teaches fabric collage. Her blog, found at susancarlson.com, is the best place to learn more about her technique. Though helpful, these videos aren't meant to be complete tutorials. The best resources for learning, aside from the blog, are her book, Serendipity Quilts, and her Fabric Collage Online Master Class, both of which you can purchase at susancarlson.com.

I am just beginning to do collage quilting and I really love your artistsy and technique. I am finding I really love it. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
You should try an apron with a big pocket for collecting herbs or fruit to use when you’re up on your scaffolding so you have a big selection of fabric and you don’t have to bend down or get up and down as much
Beautiful work and requires patience. My question is how do you attach the pieces of fabric to the main fabric? What type of glue do you use? Have the pieces been installed for a long time without falling out? I didn't notice that you used fabric adhesive. Thank you
Go to susancarlson.com/blog to search for how to blog posts, including "Why Glue?" Which explains my gluing process in more detail. I use Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, a white craft glue that dries clear and flexible. I have used it for 30 years and I have never had a problem. I also quilt my pieces which helps hold them together. The reason you don't see me gluing here is that I don't need to yet. I'm still piecing so I can wait until I'm satisfied.
