@wilflunn Wilf you are a national treasure, thank you for making me laugh and cry with joy at your wonderful imagination and inventions as a child, and also as a grown up child.
I was left to my own devices on Vision On, apart from once involving a giant exploding fried egg & worms on parachutes. They said it implied eggs gave you worms. I wasn't allowed to speak for a long time.My 1st speaking part was “And now here is the Gallery”. One child got in 2 episodes because his name was Death. Once, Tony & I were looking at the Gallery at a dinosaur with a small caveman thrusting a spear at it's crutch. I said that looks painful" Tony said " It's the only way to kill them”
YES I did it was called ' What's the idea'. I caused a bit of a fuss because I said eggs came out of hens pointed end last so their bottoms didn't shut with a bang. I couldn't believe how many people were familiar with the antics of poultrys posteriors.
No Victoria you were not halucinating. I live near Huddersfield and back then I lived next to Greenhead Park. We used to film sections of shows there with Sylvester McCoy who went on to be Doctor Who. Jeremy Beadle also turned up to sort out his Bed Show. There's a bit of my bad acting on U tube of me playing the 6th Doc Who. All the best Wilf'
L.B.C. is a radio show so Kurt wasnt there. Jeremy used a toy raygun for the sound effect. Kurt first appeared at the Ideal Home Show, then on JigSaw, then on Fun Factory and finished his stage career in Ken Campbell's panto 'Disco Queen' with with world disco champion ' Down Town' Juli Brown, who went on to star on M.T.V. Sadly Kurt spent his retirement at the Wagon and Horses, Newberry, holding a fork with a pea on it trying to entice customers into the restaurant. All the best Wilf''.
Yes you're right I was on Jigsaw, also Fantastic Facts with Jonathan Ross and a few other shows back in the 70's, 80's. My big secret is, I was Jeremy Beadle's robot Kurt Knobbler. All the best Wilf'
I've had lots feedback from shows with lads going into design and animatronics. I'm so pleased with it's spin off effects .Tony Hart was a great help to me. I also had lots of fun on the Jonathan Ross show where the production staff seemed more interested in me damaging Jonathan's suits with the explosions ! All the best Wilf
If you did this purely to annoy people who don't like fireworks, it would have been fine by me. Such people always claim their dogs are frightened, but I rather think they may have caught it from their neurotic owners. I am not scared of fireworks and neither is my dog.
Wasn't me. Could have been a man I appeared with. He was a bad ventrilloquist which he disguised by wearing a fake moustache that covered his mouth. Parrot was made from a squeezy liquid bottle it was so bad it was funny. I remember him but not the show and I don't remember the tricks. I was so bemused by the bad props. The guy I worked with that did tricks was 'The Great Suprendo' or Geofrey Durham acting as a spoof Mexican. He was married to Victoria Wood. Later he dropped the disguise. Wilf '
I'm genuinly amazed that people remember 'Vision On' it over thirty years ago but what I find incredible is folk recognising a white moustached old git hobbling along after falling off my motor scooter for the fifth time' Wilf' in his twilight years.
The 'Owl Scarer' video was made by the B.B.C. but they couldn't broadcast it because I swore at the end. I don't think any other videos exist of the machines, but I intend to add more video clips in the future. All the best Wilf'
Bern, it's a long time since 'Vision On'. I'm amazed people remember it. I often think probable the memory of it is better and we might be disappointed on seeing it again. All the best Wilf'
The incident was filmed on a Liverpool golf course. It was meant for a series I wrote called, 'What's the Idea?'. All the crew and the cameraman ran away when I lit it. Although it looks bad for me they were in line of fire. I was actually in the safest place. I was uninjured, which wasn't always the case. The film wasn't used because I swore at the end. All the best Wilf '
