I used to watch this show when it aired back in the 2010s, and I even played one of its online games The Song of Dreams, which is more story-driven than The Secrets Within. I was not surprised by Mick's absence in the Song of Dreams, given his irrelevant role in the actual show. It was a bit disappointing that Nina and Amber left the show because of how important they were in the story. I had no idea that it was a remake of the original Dutch TV show Het Huis Anubis. I would love to see the franchise return as an animated TV remake.
Amber and Nina's departure really made me lose interest. I don't know why they continued on...well it was popular but without the main girl and her bestie I don't see a point.
@@laurenvaughnstephens I heard that the actresses left the show, because of conflicting schedules. I can understand why they left House of Anubis, but still, it was a bit disappointing that the story continued without the actual protagonist.
the mystery??? the characters??? the drama??? the plot twists??? honestly this show has everything and i haven’t seen another show to date top the insanity of HOA. me and my best friend from childhood were huge fans and we would pretend to be in sibuna all the time. we looked for clues in her grandparent’s house just bc it had a creepy old vibe and organized our own little hunt. we even dumped our toys into the sewage once as part of the „initiation”. it was SO FUN!
I thought I was the only one with a crush on Ethan 😅 like I was embarrassed to bring him when people ask me about fictional childhood crushes. Also I thought Sarah was beautiful (am bi)
I randomly watched this video two days ago after not thinking about the show in a while. I literally ran into Brad aka Fabian today at a festival and told him how much I loved the show and he was in pure shock. I still am. I don’t know what wizardry is going on.
You should watch the show Wolfblood if you haven't seen it. It has actor who plays Mick as one of the main characters. It's basically a british children's teen wolf and it was one of the most iconic stables of my childhood.
Yes! It has been a long time but I loved Wolf blood. It was what filled some of the void left behind by My Babysitter's A Vampire! Probably the reason I love Teen Wolf now it cause of Wolfblood.
@@desireekhuduge8530 Touchstone of Ra? My plan is not to touch anything that doesn’t involve Nina. I usually hate putting the burden on viewers but depending on how well part 3 and 4 (season two) do maybe I’ll consider season three and touchstone of ra!
There’s 29 episodes in the first season it’s just abit wierd that most of the episodes are double episodes (20 min episodes) but in the second season there’s 90 episodes which are all like 10 min episodes (note whoever did the second season title names for the episodes needs to be fired coz there’s at least 5 duplicate episodes and random thumbnails)
@@desireekhuduge8530 The original House of Anubis aired in 11 min episodes (if I’m correct). For the English version, they combine 2-5 episodes to create a more digestible show. Regular episodes were a combination of 2 11 min segments and pilots/finales combines 5 11 min segments. Season 1 of the English version has 27 episodes while season 2 has 45. If you look up HOA on the internet it can show that season 1 has 60 and season 2 has 90. This is correct but it is also correct that they have 27 and 45 respectively! As for the name repeats, I’ve yet to notice a duplicate. Like many shows, house of Anubis uses a quirky thing to name their episodes. All of them start with “house of” I have yet to notice a duplicate but I could miss it! I’m not sure which streaming service you’re using to watch but Paramount+ seems to have it correct to the American airing as they have a direct contract with Nickelodeon! It is very confusing and I can’t tell you why they did it they way they did!
@@ainincinnamonrolls season two will come out sometime next year! I know that’s such a long ways away but I won’t be able to film for the next few months but will begin script writing and planning!
joy mercer is a fantastic character with a great arc. i don't think the writers meant to do this. her trauma and treatment from the adults in her life really messed her up. even her parents were using her. the self-sabotage and destruction of her closest relationships post-trauma was so realistic. she was crying out for help but she did not have the tools to do it effectively, so instead she hits rock bottom! with time she gets better, but remains very complex in the ways she reacts to things happening around her.
@@waterissogood I hope to talk more about Joy in season two! Since she was missing, most of what we learn and know about her is from the other house members. I think it’s very clear from the first few episodes that I’ve rewatched so far that Joy just wants her life to go back to normal before becoming the chosen one and disappearing. I hope to deliver a good discussion on her in the future!
Have you seen the entire series? If so , I’d love to discuss 🤪 also… as a girl who has a habit of falling in love with morally gray characters, I’m starting to notice that Jerome may have been a gateway for that 😅
I have but I can't say I remember it all. Unfortunately, until the creation of Paramount+ I was not able to watch House of Anubis and have forgotten so much. I'm currently rewatching season two! I love morally gray characters! I can see why Jerome would be appealing but my heart always belonged to Fabian!
I've come to notice that many HOA viewers tend to dislike characters that don't contribute to the mystery plot and that's quite unfortunate, tbh. The Dutch version (Het Huis Anubis) was advertised as a drama series for the youth, and while the mystery was central, the characters' lives outside of that were just as important. The HOA writers seemed to have erased a lot of that aspect and put majority of the focus on the mystery itself. And this decision ultimately worked against characters like Mick and Mara, for whom school, careers and relationships (be they romantic or platonic) take central role. In HHA, Mick has a nice development arc. He is generally a pleasant guy that minds his business, but he also has a temper and is somewhat of a cold douche who is indifferent to everything going on around him. So, seeing his character mature through his interactions with different characters, the situations he finds himself in and eventually becoming a kind-hearted person who is more open about his feelings was really nice to see. Mick leaving so early on in HOA sadly took away any chance of that growth.
The more I hear about HHA the more I want to watch it. I would agree that the mystery takes the focus in HOA, which is why it is so jarring (if that's the right word) to then jump to the complicated relationship of Mick and Mara. Mick in HHA sounds very interesting! He has development while I think Mick in HOA doesn't get any. Even his bad mouthing Mara is brushed under the rug without much consequence. He also doesn't have a temper to overcome, he gets upset sure but it is nothing that he dwells on too long. I think HOA and Bobby Lockwood (Mick's actor) made a good decision on his leaving because it seems that Mick was not as complex has his dutch counterpart creating a stale character. I really enjoyed reading your comment about him and maybe if I rewatching season one I will be more compassionate to Mick but I think I prefer the Mick I have never even seen to the one I grew up watching!
Did you ever watch Tower Prep?? I feel like it was the Cartoon Network counterpart to House of Anubis (or was HOA the Nick counterpart to Tower Prep?) would love to see any kind of recap about Tower Prep bc I feel like it has been erased from our collective memory
I've never seen it! Was more of a Disney Channel girl than Cartoon Network (minus a few shows). Someone did bring it up on either part one or part two and I did look it up. If I ever get access (I don't believe it was on streaming) I'll watch it and see what it's like. Who knows! Maybe there is someone out there dying to make a video who hasn't yet!!
They could've done so much more with Mara it's too bad they only used her for romance, I was one of those viewers who was there for the mystery only and didn't give af about love triangles/problems lol I do like that they gave her a bit more interesting plot in s2 when she wanted to expose Vera Rip Mara you would've loved Challengers
@@filiptomas7629 I’m not too far into my rewatch of season two but I’m eager to see what goes on with Mara especially since Mick leaves! And yes! She would’ve loved challengers!!
While Amber is my favourite character, I also like Alfie. I think him becoming an official member of Sibuna is great, in part because it allows him to make connections outside of Jerome, who sucks. I also don’t consider Jerome to be an official member of Sibuna, in part because of the mystery plot in season two. He’s completely unaffected by it.
@@symwinter I know Alfie gets a stronger plot as the show progresses and I’m excited for it. I think he added a new dynamic to sibuna! Imagine my surprise when rewatching season two and Jerome is not invited to the welcome back sibuna meeting. Sad I ever considered him apart of it cause technically he wasn’t really initiated like everyone else was. I guess much like everything else he did in the show, he only needed it when it was convenient for him.
@@symwinter Which is so odd to me cause he was so hurt about being left out that he forced himself into it! I wished I liked him more because he is complex but he such a jerk I can't ever remember liking him.
I might watch it while I am working on part 3 and 4. I am just a die hard Nina fan and refuse to watch anything she is not in. I thought she was going to return for Touchstone of Ra but NOPE!
I still find it crazy that Erika, the vampire who loves to sample their student body, didn’t even offer to drink Ethan’s blood and save him. The ultra rare blood used as a bargaining chip. I know you wanted Sarah to be your best friend forever but like, really?
@@symwinter my best guess is that their explanation would be that Sarah has more control than Erica. That she would stop where Erica might not. Otherwise, it’s simply not put on the table because they wanted Sarah to be a vampire. I’ve never considered this at all but rewatching the scene Jesse specifically wants Sarah to help Ethan but leaves before making sure…idk why they did that 😭
I stopped watching the show the second Fabina wasn’t canon in season three. Amber leaving didn’t help either. That’s my number one ship and my favourite character and they’re both gone? No thanks.
No literally! Luckily, a person who worked on the show (idk if writer or producer) believes that Nina and Fabian end up together so I am considering them cannon in my world!!
The lack of merch is sooo interesting. I think someone mentioned a book so that could def be floating around out there. But its so cool that you made your own!
@@laurenvaughnstephens right, I only remember couple of books, DVD's and board game and that's it. There was so much potential for more but making my own was very fun
Sometime before COVID outbreak, I've started a band which was supposed to mix light prog in the vein of early Roxy Music, Supertramp, 70s Queen and 10CC with jazz(plus darkly humorously lyrics). Nothing came out it finally, but what's important is that I named it Sibuna(as I was researching "HoA" at that time, I don't remember why). I didn't identify myself with situations present on the show, I just liked the word.
