This channel uploads old Japanese songs, especially military songs, with English and Romaji subtitles, once or twice a week.
Since I am Japanese, my romaji subtitles are 99% accurate, but my English subtitles may be unnatural.
Information on singers, performers, lyricists, composers, etc. is provided in the description. Please make use of this information if you are interested.
Feel free to request, I'll put a heart on your request comment. Please wait leisurely until it's uploaded once it has got a heart.
also JMS Translation, would it be okay if you make another version of 北満だより (Specifically from kiyoko suizenji) , or perhaps publish 海ゆかば? thank you if you read this
So far as I know, this is the first Japanese 'patter song' to gain success. It says something about how striking it is that this act gained the approval of incumbent PM Ito Hirobumi, despite its being produced by a disgraced ex-policeman and infamous dissident!
Im not japanese, but respect for all people who risked their lives for their contry. Even if they wasnt on the right side, they were still a human beings. And by the way, you did translate roey no uta, can you do zoku rouei no uta? So the second field encampent song.
Furukawa 'Roppa' was the younger son of a Baron and a massively popular comedian in the prewar Showa Era. The guy doing the straight-man (tsukkomi) voices is famous baritone Tamaki Tokuyama, who sadly died of an infection at only 38. Neither had any military experience, but this bit captures something common to the spirit of soldiers everywhere.
Another wonderful translation JMS! If possible I'd like to request the translation of 再起の歌 I don't have any information on it as I've never heard it before. Cheers!
What a rare piece of music exhibiting the Japanese mindset towards Manchuria. Similar to the Song of the Horse Bandits (Dai Bazoku no Uta). Kudos to you for discovering this and thank you for sharing this with us. ❤️
