this game is really really promising but it still needs a *lot* of work with regards to charting and readability. where i felt like the game shined the most was in the chart for Apex (in chapter 2), but there are lots of places where things are too close to the top of the screen, or zoomed out too far, or whatever. there's a chart or two in particular that also had some nasty up/down diagonal alternations, which is not at all something that feels natural compared to the left/right diagonal alternations

I think you should try LMMS, it's great for video game music like this (and it's free). FL Studio's really only necessary if someone's an expert pop music producer or something.
Don't know if this helps, but you can try out Cakewalk by Bandlab, i have been using it for few months now and it work pretty well. It's a free DAW and quite easy to use so you can save and get back to the project later. Keep going with your music adventure, good luck!
