You confused the minimum focus values. The minimum focus distance of the Ace Pro is 1.3ft (40 cm). The Ace has 1.9ft (60 cm)!

No, I know, but in reality, idk if it is just my model but this one focuses at 60cm. And honestly if you watch other non sponsored videos you'll have people complaining about the same issue.
I do not recommend this camera; it seriously has a focusing problem. GoPro 5 is seven generations older than this camera but has better focus. It is definitely sponsored advertising on social media, and I repeat, my seven-generation-old GoPro 5 takes clearer photos than this camera. This is not a software issue. The Leica lens thing is a complete scam in compact cameras. Having a Leica lens doesn't mean anything. It takes muddy/blur photos (I use it with housing for underwater) and has focusing issues. Research wherever you want; everyone complains about the same thing. I was going to buy the GoPro 12; I was misled and am very disappointed. I can't comment on outdoor videos, but it is definitely not suitable for underwater use. We should use gopro! I have attached sample underwater photos taken with the original housing. If you do not use it in RAW+JPG mode, all the photos you take will turn out to be garbage, just like the ones in the link. ibb.co/pKfLRsm ibb.co/xhbxZ7d ibb.co/y4Hs79G Even if you record in RAW+JPG mode, the blurriness still persists. It doesn't provide a permanent solution. Out of 150 photos, only 30 come out clear, but they are still not as sharp as the old GoPro 5. And those are the clearest ones. ibb.co/8zHDYcg ibb.co/SxBGkQ3 A sample taken with the old GoPro 5 ibb.co/VVzv9pD
Because it's an f2.6 prime lens. With that aperture, the minimum distance to focus on infinity is - seemingly - about 60 cm. Why? Because like others said, this is an action camera to image everything BUT your pretty mug. If that hurts your ego, simply put the camera on a selfie stick or put a 4+ diopter lens on the ace pro lens. Half of what's behind you will be blurred but at least the world will not be bereft of your magnificent visagé!

bro the problem is that the company says 40cm and in reality is 60! And also if you make a camera that is supposed to be meant for vloggers with big egos and magnificent visages then do it properly. And thanks for the comment and for watching man! I really feel like my complaining and magnificent visage touched you! I just love the internet(I am not even sarcastic)
I didn't see much difference in the examples with the straight arm vs. the bent arm while doing selfies. Also, while on the tape measure, the phone looked like it was in focus the whole time.... so was that shot with the Ace Pro? The image streamed to the phone may not have been clear, but the phone was in focus.

Mate it is just not there, the camera is good, and I have shot some things that actually look pretty decent for an action cam, but sometimes it is just annoying to see stuff behind you that are in focus. And don't mean only for vlogging. Think about when you want to shoot a close up of something like a flower or a leaf ora some other things and you cannot get close, or you have to mount the diopter and unmount it. With this particular camera the company should have just came out and be direct and straight about it.
Thanks for the reply. I wag h your video on my phone (like many people probably have), so that might have something to do with not seeing the subtleties in the quality. I found your video while researching for replacements for my GoPros, which just randomly become bricks. I mainly do action shots driving 4x4s, quads, dirtbikes, mountain/BMX, etc.... with some vlog type talking here and there. In your opinion, would you recommend this camera?

Thank you for watching and commenting. Listen if you know that you almost never will need to go close to a subject then yes, it is pretty good, quality wise is awesome, you can even rig it up properly to have better protection for quads and dirtbikes. Don't buy it if you plan to talk to the camera a lot. But that's just my 2 cents on it.
I have been disappointed by gopro cameras in recent years, I haven't even tried the latest versions. I've been using Insta x3 for some time and it's quite ok, I might try Ace Pro too, thanks

The X3 and X4 are amazing! They do everything and they are fun. The only downside is the file size and file management
: But wait, if i have to get a closer shot ( less than 60 cms ), I can place the camera at 60 cms and double tap it....zoom the frame... Its possible, right?
I definitely fell in love with the Insta360 Ace Pro. Of course I'll use it while riding my EUC, but also when I'm vlogging at 50cm, taking advantage of the blur to hide my blemishes. But most of all I will use it in the evening in Rome during walks with my wife and friends, because in low light conditions this cam is superb!

Ciao Riccardo! Guarda secondo me è una grande action cam ma hanno un po' mentito su questo fatto della focusin distance e rompe un po' le scatole. Però generalmente come ho detto nel video è una bomba.
This camera is my favourite... The clarity feature helped to shoot great PICS from a distance in a REAL forest situation. The bonfire video has come out great because of PUREVIDEO feature. I just love this camera. Regarding the focus issue.. ive already got a diopter (lens) from vivitar. Ive a gopro as well but kept it aside in case of an emergency like situation. I love this camera and it deserves to be loved IMHO.

And I am happy for you! Actually for taking photos it is pretty good I have to say! What diopter do you have?
Dude, it's a sport camera. Good sport camera. There are hundreds of other devices for narcissistic shots of a beautiful face.

I totally agree with you! They should just stop branding it as a vlog camera, don't you agree? I mean I do praise it for its qualities but... I think they wanted to reach too many people.
😂Bro just get over it. Life is short. Little things like this bothering you ?Get the different camera and i am sure you will face with other different problems. LOL

Ture, true I just made this video so that other people who would like to buy this camera for vlogging know about it. Maybe it will help a few people make a good decision. It's about giving something to the community and getting some views and maybe in the future making a living out of it. Thanks for the comment and the view!
optical physics dictates that you have to have a focal length and depth of field. It is primarily an action camera. If the focal length were to be reduced, the functionality of a (primarily) action camera would be compromised. If you are going to vlog with it, accept that there are constraints. There are now replacement lens covers on amazon for $12, the lens cover screws off and the new one screws on. Non-problem.

And I totally agree with you! Problem is that they state the minimum focusing distance is 40 centimeters and in reality it kind of starts focusing at 55-60 centimeters. The problem is not the camera is the advertisement that’s been done so far. And yes this action camera does not do it for me.
I just purchased it , got on-site to film and set up. 30 mins later making this post. Here's my review on the rs3 mini. It sucks. Don't buy it. I'm shooting with Sony a7IV 16-35mm GM lens and the rs3 mini can not handle the payload so balancing is an absolute pain in the ass.

Hi! Sorry to hear that! Yeah maybe the 16-35 is a little too heavy. I think this gimbal maybe is made to handle less than 1kg combos. With smaller lenses I have no issue. Also vertical is pretty good even with bigger setups.
I agree, 50mm looks better in most cases. You can take a snapshot of your friends and it kills the busy background, flattens their faces, adds a little bit of cinematic compression. The 35 is closer to a flat phone image. My dilemma is I want a small lens for snapshots and casual walkaround but I like the 50mm so much that I’d go for the 1.4 version and owning both the 33 f1.4 and the 35 f2 sounds stupid and redundant.

really love how you described it man! I agree. And honestly if you don't do paid shoots I would say 35mm F2 is the way to go. Only move to F1.4 when you start working and you often shoot in low light. It is worth it only then.
Hello, Ist there a way to check the current running firmware ? I would like to ensure a EF-M2 adapter is up to date, but dont want to get a mess if it is ok already. p.d. i am running Linuxmint/Ubuntu
2 месяца назад
Unfortunately I cannot help you with that. I saw in a video that on a panasonic camera when you attach the adapter with a lens the camera will tell you the firmware version of the lens but it is in reality the adapter. Don't know if that helps
Awesome video! Your portraits are really inspirational! I want to try to replicate them. What is your opinion on the 75mm vs the fuji 90mm? I have found a really good deal on a used 90mm but the 75 is so good. Thanks!
2 месяца назад
Thanks! I am glad you like my work. Honestly I think the 75mm is better if you shoot a lot in low light. That 1,2 makes a huge difference. And the 90mm is more expensive although it just feels better when mounted on the camera. It is also a matter of how much you enjoy the 75mm focal length vs 90mm because you will see the difference. I made a video with the 85mm Viltrox vs 90mm Fuji and there was a difference, and that difference can be noticed even more with the 90mm. Overall I think the 75mm is better unless you want a longer focal length. Plus I think it is time for Fuji to update this lens.
Really new to photography and wanted something to play with alongside the kit lens for my XT200. I always want to spring for the better product (the 75 in this case) but thanks for making me feel like the 85mm would be enough for someone starting out like myself!
3 месяца назад
Glad I could help! Btw on the XT200 probably the 75mm would be a little too heavy anyways. Maybe even the 85mm would be a little heavy. Have you given a thought to the 56mm, also there is the new 56mm F1.7 which doesn't look to bad. I did not have the chance to try but it looks like a good option. I might buy it myself since it is pretty cheap.
Hello from Portugal, do you the XH2s cam shoot with flash on electronic shutter at any speed? Yes it does!!! I have two. I came from two Xt4s. And yes the door of the cards have de same problem. Hugs and thanks
4 месяца назад
I honestly do not know as I very seldom use flash.
Tried the XS10 some time ago and I did not like the form factor and a few other things but with the new updates it should be pretty cool! One card slot would be the main issue but it also depends on what you shoot.
Awesome video man. One thing I want to add. The camera has the most dynamic range in 4k30 fps. It shoots in 14bit instead of 12bit. This is something not many people know about but it’s a feature you see on much more expensive cinema cameras.

For real? I did not know that. I'll look into it more. Thank you very much for the info and also for watching and commenting!
