Nah, ADO sucks. There is a reason it's cheaper than Jira. Microsoft adds a bunch of half ass features just to check off boxes. Jira's interface is easier to customize, looks nicer, and is more functional. How many times have you typed up a bunch of stuff in an ADO ticket got distracted and didn't click save. Now it's gone. Not an issue in JIRA. How about adding images to tickets? just drag and drop for jira, not in ADO. ADO has this weird modal dialog that constantly makes me think my back button is broken on the browser. ADO shoves everything in the right hand column making things hard to see and find. Searching for tickets by default searches code references, which is almost never what I want. Linking to other tickets is way easier in JIRA, as is referencing confluence. Linking commits to tickets works better in JIRA, it doesn't matter what git repo you use. That $15 or whatever per person is well worth the price. ADO might be worth it if Microsoft overhauled the interface, but it doesn't seem like they care. They have Github now, they definately seem to be dumping resources into that instead. IMO, that's the correct choice.
Your content is helpful. I will watch the rest of your videos. The way you explain it clicks. You are the 4th video I watched today and easily the best organized and presented.
I saw an other way to add an org-admin (it was really difficult because I had the same problem : no administrator section). You can go on "user management" > invite users > and take in the section "add groups" : "org-admin". This person can be already part of your users
Long time no see Jan (I remember you from the Jans Einfach RU-vid video series about 5 years ago), great to see you back online, even if you never went away.🙂
One of the problems I'm running across is actually not with agents being out of the office, but approvers. Would be interested in setting something like this up for that scenario!
Hi Alex, I have a little problem and a question. I graduated in management fields like Marketing, Finance, and Hr. so I could be eligible to learn Jira and find a job on the basis of Jira Software or any Jira products. I am also a Certified Jira Software Professional from Atlassian University. Please solve my problem.
@@ApetechTechTutorials Yes I need a job with my recent qualifications like Jira Certified..... And can I be eligible for a job with a different background like management, not Computer Science..
Yeah 100% agree on the missing existing project option. I was floored when I saw it was missing. I mainly utilize the Import CSV feature for copying a template project into new projects, but they require some initial set up before importing issues. Which would be fine but the new system also doesn't allow you to share settings from existing projects, so it would require changing all of the settings of the project after creating it. No thanks, using the old experience until it gets the love it needs.
@@ApetechTechTutorials Looks like they updated the External System Import information screen. Step in the right direction and gives me piece of mind that they are working on getting things implemented still. "With the new experience, you can import data from any app into a new Jira business or software project. While we work on building more capabilities, we recommend that you use the old experience to: Move data into an existing project in Jira Import data into Jira Service Management or Jira Product Discovery Use JSON files to move data"

QUICK QUESTION: We have a Standard license for Jira but a Premium license for Jira Service Management. I see that adding the Team field to a Team-managed project is possible via Project settings > Issue types. With your knowledge, would adding that Team field to my project only be functional if my Jira license was upgraded to Premium? I feel like being able to access this function in JSM should only be available IF the Jira license was in sync with JSM. Your channel is definitely my go-to channel. You're a very thorough teacher ... I appreciate your content!
The team field is just a single select field where the values are predetermined by the physical teams you build. So, it's really up to you to determine if it's valuable or not. Some folks use the team field to assign an issue to a group of people and then that group can assign the issue to a specific individual. But all the tickets assigned to that team are searchable. Which version of Jira/JSM you have is less relevant. Hope that helps.
Hey Alex. I messaged you on Instagram about possibly doing a private consult with me (I need Jira help for my job). I left you my work email in that message so you can let me know if that is possible. You were a great help to me when we did a private consult last year.
This is a very useful video. Forms are great to use unless you want to access data within the forms. (At least I haven't found a way.) Forms have 3 significant drawbacks. (1) As the author mentions, JQL cannot access form data unless the form fields are linked to existing Jira fields. (2) Jira Software Cloud can't access or see form data from JSM issues. For example, the form data isn't visible if you clone or move a JSM issue to a regular Jira project. (3) JSM can't export form data as a CSV or HTML. The Jira List feature can't display unlinked form fields. I love Atlassian products, but the lack of form access is frustrating.

Is it possible to exclude the information in Custom Fields (label) somehow with the regular clone tool? Im having problems finding (what I consider) proper documentation about it. I have a custom field which is not shows in tasks but is shown in stories and the information is not visible but still in existance but hidden for the tasks by my understanding, eg. cloning takes all the information and pass it along and Jira does not "care" if I have the field visible or not, the information is still there? Please correct me whereever I may be wrong the above question/statement/ranting as im in need of help form someone more knowledgable. Thank you in advance no matter what the respons may be. Peace! :)
I am creating a project based on phishing submission. I was planning to add multiple screens and wanted to carry the fields with the transition to the next screen. Like on the first step when we create an issue i want to have 5 fields like reporter date, type of phishing and when i create it should to to first step or first step of jira . When we try it to take to nect stage a pop up screen would show up and ask for more details like did you click or was login successful but when i fill these details on the next step i dont see the fields carried along. the only way i can see them is to have every single fields at the first screen when we create issue inside Jira. Any guidence or video ? Thanks
