Really well done! I just recently came across your Starflight project. I have been testing beta versions of Exoplanet which is a reimagined version of Starflight into VR currently available on Steam for free. I think the developer of Exoplanet has done a really good job in making it feel like Starflight. I was looking for material to research some of the lore and missions found in the original game, I have forgotten most of it and that's how I came across your github project. I played Starflight when I was a teenager on my Commodore 64.
This is confusing people ,Front of Engine driver side is 1 3 5 7 Passenger is 2 4 6 8 so plug your wires clockwise with the Number 1 printed on the Cap and follow 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2
I grew up with this game on the Sega Genesis in the 90s. I played this all the time and still never beat it! lol I will be one of the first to buy any kind of re-make! This looks awesome! Starflight is one of my top 10 Genesis games and one of the most under rated games of all time!
this looks great. i especially like how you've mapped the original terrain maps onto the 3d planet surfaces -- it's a great nod to the original game, and looks surprisingly good aesthetically!
Are you going to continue the project? You haven't updated any other versions for few months :( I'm very excited to see what it will look like when you're done
This was my favorite game when I was a kid. Probably my favorite game of all time until Witcher 3 came out. Playing through it right now. This remake would be a dream come true.
Holy moly, that things like Olympus Mons you're going up! (1:15-2:15) The terrain textures are AMAZING. I trust the map will get clearer (ie, easier to pick out points of interest) once you've worked out all the planet features. But your re-development of this game is just incredible. Great work!
Fantastic recreation! Right down to the garbled comms at a low Communications skill. I assume the "transmission" picture clears up at higher skill levels, too? Took me a second to figure out wth happened around 5:30... and then I remembered wormholes. (And indeed I see there was one at 5:28, though I believe you couldn't see them originally with a Navigation skill of only 30!) Definitely a much more impressive wormhole travel graphic! Also, toward the end there I half expected this test run to end by being blown to pieces by the Gazurtoid, which would have been a) fitting, and b) setting an impressive record for short lifespan, even for Starflight.
