Your indoor review is spot on. I bought a Full Swing Kit about a week ago and the indoor numbers are all over the place. Received it on Tuesday, hit a few indoor sessions with it, gave up and started the return process on Wednesday. I had high hopes but it’s just not useful or fun indoors.
I inquired about enlarging the depth of my enclosure from 5' to 8' so that I could mount the electronics as shown. I was told that it cannot be done without ordering an entirely new enclosure. Paying for an entirely new enclosure just to get the side and top fabric seems excessive.
Hey! Thanks for reaching out! While extending your enclosure depth from 5 feet to 8 feet would require the purchase of a new enclosure side and top fabric (and likely depth pipes as well), our customer service lead Taylor would like to check on your order and see what other potential options there are for us to help. You can reach Taylor via email or phone here: www.carlofet.com/contact. Looking forward to helping you!
I called benq for there lh820 st ,because you gave a great presentation of the the unit.benq was not helpful, they were out of stock, and instead of the sale rep ,recommending something else he just hung up twice so I won’t be buying any benq items.
Hello! Yes, the LH820ST has been discontinued. If you contact our customer service team, we will help you find the best projector that we offer for your setup!

Hey there! We are not measuring roll out as conditions vary from real life vs. how the launch monitor calculates it. The only data we can really compare between real life and launch monitor is carry distance!
People throwing shade because they see these guys hit a few chunk shots have completely missed the point. 1. The guys are specifically talking about how it feels when you hit a bad shot 2. If you have a single surface “fairway style Matt” then the surface is way less relevant if you are hitting perfect shots every time. 3. Put a few videos of your “pro swing” up so we can all critique you too…. I bet you’re the same sort of guys that yell at the TV telling PGA or LIV players what they did wrong…
@@carlsplace I am considering purchasing an 8 x 8 enclosure. I have a Skytrak already. Just need the projector and other items. I know the Skytrak software works on my Mac. I just need the right short throw projector with a 1:1 ratio capability. I've put together a package on your website under my account. Just waiting to pull the trigger
@@JmackJah Sorry, you're right. Some apps, like SkyTrak, would work on a Mac. However, I don't think it's possible to create custom resolutions on a Mac without the help of a third-party app. Mac allows you to change resolutions to a couple other options, but not fully customize it. That said, the BenQ LH600ST has 1:1 aspect ratio built in. Check out this part of an article from BenQ on how it works! www.benq.com/en-us/business/golf-simulator-projector/resources/the-easiest-way-to-create-a-1-1-golf-simulator-studio-that-fits.html#:~:text=BenQ%E2%80%99s%20Screen%20Fill%20Enables%20a%20Perfect%201%3A1%20image%20%E2%80%93%20Every%20Time
@@carlsplace I think once the projector is connected via HDMI, a driver for it will appear. And the projector driver should allow me to dial in the 1:1 aspect ratio I'd need for an 8x8 screen. Correct?
@@JmackJah Great question. We don't use Macs in our showroom, so I can't test it for you. But what I found in a quick Google search, it didn't seem possible. Could be wrong though as we have not tried it!
Hey Mark! It’s possible that the calibration on any monitor may need to be updated from time to time if any changes are made to the mounted/calibrated position. For example if the iO is mounted level on a frame but over time become out of level you may need to adjust/re-level the mount and update the calibration. In our experience we’ve found that our Carl’s Place Frame mounts do a good job at securely mount monitors when properly installed and have not needed consistent recalibration!
In the case of the Foresight System, they have a patented alignment stick which allows for their unit to be misaligned to the target line, without compromising accuracy by aligning the target line to the launch monitor.
Could you share the specs of the gaming PC you used here in this video? I'm getting a substantial lag between swing and shot tracer; trying to determine which component(s) of my gaming PC is causing the bottleneck.
Love it. Cannot stand when people review accuracy and say: “those are the numbers i would expect from my swing”. Really? Unless you’re a 3 or less handicap i dont trust anybody’s expectation for their swing. But what you all just did, that i trust. Great job, love that you do this. Surprised you dont get more views for these accuracy videos. Question:. Did your driver accuracy numbers include the shots you felt things were not set up correctly? Can you describe a little better what you felt was the issue on your set up at first? You mentioned ball position in relation to the laser dot. Could you not see the dot well or were you just moving away from it to a better spot on the mat?
Hey! Thanks for the kind words! If I remember correctly, yes, the driver numbers did include the shots that we felt were not set up perfectly. I believe it had to do with making sure the unit was not only level in general, but with the hitting mat as well. Hard to do when you're outside on a not-perfectly-even tee box too! As for the laser, it was maybe a bit hard to see because it was such a bright, sunny day. Hope that helps!
You didn't watch past 3 minutes in the video. There was an adjustment made for proper ball placemeent. Once that was done, the readings were very close, nevermind the fact that Mike isn't exactly a scientific test since he was running around like crazy trying to mark carry distance from funny angles while running. Also, I'm assuming the wind that was pointed out in the video was not accounted for in the configuration. At no point was it mentioned if shitty scuffed range balls were being used which would impact the unit's ability to read the ball's launch parameters. As the review accurately points out, it did a good job.
You guys SUCK as golfers! How can you sell golf products and not play golf??? That’s like getting a tattoo from someone that doesn’t have any. Just saying
That's where the regular EYE MINI comes in! You get that wireless connection capability, but at a higher price point. We think it's pretty neat that Uneekor is offering a couple of options for its ground-mounted unit!
Hey Jeff - can you clarify your question here? Are you asking how to physically set up and mount the second projector? Or something with the way the projector is set up on the computer/OBS?
While it may involve a few extra steps to switch between lefties and righties, it would be interesting to see what is actually involved in the process. Would you need to recalibrate it or if you had a precalibrated spot on each side that you move it to, would it be pretty straight forward. How much of an issues is the cable management etc.
Those are great questions! We did not test for that as that's not what it was created for, but we imagine it might need to be recalibrated and would be a hassle with cable management. There are other radar options that side behind the golfer in the same price range, but just need to make sure you have enough depth in your room!
@@carlsplace While it may not be what it was created for, at it's very attractive price point for a camera unit and my limited space, this would be an ideal solution. I'm a lefty and would be the primary user but on the odd occasion I would need to accommodate a righty, it would be interesting to know if it is feasible. Cable management aside, which is likely the easiest to overcome, I understand GSPro allows you to set it up in a way such that a player could play 1-2 holes before switching, which would limit the amount of moving the unit around. I haven't seen any videos showing how this would work for the EML, EM or GC3, etc. in terms of logistically moving it, recalibrating (if needed but hopefully not as long as it is place in a precalibrated spot.)
I've just taken delivery of an Eye Mini Lite and lined it up next to my GC2. The Eye Mini Lite is under-reading ball speed (and hence carry) but up to 15 yards on longer clubs, versus the GC2 I'd be interesting in seeing some testing from your channel to see how accurate you find it.
I am having same issues. My carry is almost 2 clubs shorter on my wedges through 6 iron. my hybrids and woods are weird as well. They all bunch within 25 yards of each other without a huge distinction. FWIW, I am not a great golfer (14 handicap) but I know what my carry/play yardage is on well-struck balls. I am not getting anywhere near that with my mini lite. I put in proper elevation on it and everything. I am in MI so elevation is not changing enough to account for the discrepancy either. Should also add I had a buddy come over who is an 9 handicap and just got his bag mapped by his coach at a trackman launch facility. He noticed the same under-read on the ball speeds.
Some other tips I have learned: Select the single camera single viewer option (instead of dual cam) r-click the newest clip in your capture history and select "open as replay observer" When doing this you can hit balls one after another, and each time the newest clip will play automatically This is good if you don't want to fiddle with stuff and you can see the screen from where you're hitting You can also open two Kinovea sessions at once, if you have dual monitors Then you can do what I mentioned above, but have both cameras (down the line, and face-on) plus the auto-replay
It's ugly, isn't it?! But if you read some other comments and watch some other videos, you'll realize that we were purposely taking bad swings to actually hit the mat to get a feel for how forgiving they were on the joints, but also how they punished fat shots. We know we aren't professional golfers and that's not the point. Both of us typically pick the ball clean on a good swing, so we had to change things up to truly test out the mat.
Hey! According to Garmin's website (www.garmin.com/en-US/p/590068), this is what's included with the monthly subscription: -Plan your best approach shot, and sink your putt with Green Contour data -Home Tee Hero virtual rounds on 42,000+ courses (Approach R10 device only) -Store video clips of your shots in the cloud (Approach R10 device only)
Is it ok to leave this mat outside all the time? I’m setting up an outside cage and I like the mat but want to be sure I can leave it outside without having to move it inside constantly. Thanks!
Hey there! Thank you for your video! I recently got a 150-inch grey reflective screen, but it arrived all wrinkled from storage and transportation. I tried using a garment steamer to smooth it out, which helped a bit, but it's still not perfect, especially for enjoying crisp 4K projector visuals. Do you think attaching it to a wooden frame will solve the issue by stretching it evenly? I'd appreciate any advice!
Hey Tony! If this is one of our screens, we'd recommend mounting it with tension and using a hair dryer on a low heat setting on the back side of the screen to remove creases. Make sure to not leave the hair dryer in any one spot for too long or you will risk damaging the screen material. With any more questions, reach out to our customer service team here: www.carlofet.com/contact
Depends on what you mean by that. Multiple running at the same time, you would need a beefy computer, and it likely isn't even possible with a beefy computer. If you mean running at different times, yes it is possible. We have several computers in our showroom that have multiple softwares on them for different launch monitors. Hope that helps!
I noticed the bottom of the screen does not have any zip ties holding it down. Or is the tension from the top, left, and right enough to keep the bottom still?
Hey Eddie! The cable goes through a sleeve on the bottom of the screen, which keeps it tight to the floor. This is to provide that seamless turf to screen visual while keeping worm-burners from sneaking under! The cable is sized so that it is taut enough that the bottom of the screen stays flush with the floor. Hope that makes sense.
How to check if a launch monitor is actually reading spin or just calculating it: Attach scotch tape to the clubface and take a shot. If it's actually reading spin, backspin will significantly decrease
I believe these were 5' deep enclosures, so looks like they are hitting around 9-10' away from the screens. Keep in mind that we always recommend hitting from 10' away from the screen!
How off center can you make the BenQ LW500ST? I'm in the design phase of my build but only have 12 ft width so I'd like to put the projector all way to the right or left of the ceiling. Is that possible?
Great question. That might be pushing it a little bit. However, couple of notes: -The LW500ST has been discontinued, just an FYI -Often overlooked, the best spot to mount a projector overhead is right over the tee off spot. Might sound dangerous, but when you think about it, the golf swing doesn't go straight up, so it's really not in any danger there!
Hello John! While we cannot speak to how Smash Factor Indoor Golf made their side wall nets, we can say that we offer those as an add-on safety piece for our enclosures. And our enclosures do not come with pipe insulation, but we do offer add-on foam inserts to protect the frame around the impact screen. Contact our customer service with any other questions you have! www.carlofet.com/contact.
The Mevo+ is hands down the best pro consumer option. No subscriptions, all the data you would want and need. However, it’s all calculated data. The spin rates and shot shapes, will not be reliable and can be heavily influenced by incorrect setups. The GC hawk and GC quad are the industry leaders and most accurate. These are professional products. They are used by tour pro’s, club fittings etc.
Hey Kyle! Thanks for the comment! While we admit that we aren't professional golfers, we weren't using our normal swings in this video. Both of us are clean pickers, so we don't really get the full affect of chunking or taking a nice divot. So we purposely were trying to hit down into the mat, before or after the ball, so we could actually review the mats.
I watched to the end and during enjoyed the "mystery reveal" of ratings. This was a pretty thorough demonstration and evaluation of these mats for sure. My concern would be durability. These mats will take a serious pounding over their lifetime and I know it's hard to determine the "wearability" of a mat after a handful of shots. After watching the entire video, I'm left with two questions. 1) Which mat would be the most durable? 2) Which mat was the consensus favourite, factoring in all your criteria? Thanks guys!!
Hey! Impressed you made it all the way through! It was a long one. And you have a great point about durability. Hard to test for this video, but we can honestly say that we use all of these hitting mats decently often in our showroom and they've all held up well! Some show wear in the hitting area or standing area, but not enough to be concerned about. As for the favorite, it seems as though we leaned toward the higher priced ones, which makes sense. But that doesn't mean the lower priced ones aren't good values!
@@carlsplace It was a very good and thorough video. Most "reviewers" dont spend anywhere near the time that you guys did. I follow several "golf" channels here and as Im looking to buy a hitting mat, I dont wanna waste my money on something cheap, but cant spend $1300+ on a mat either. Plus, I live in Canada, so the exchange rate KILLSSSS me (Nearly 40% $CA to $US dollars.) I think most people want the best quality at the best price so I think, if I were to buy one, it might be the EZ Tee @ $450. I liked your criteria and for me "Realistic" and "Comfort" are more important that "Practicality" but the EZ Tee scored well across the board according to your review. Long story short...Great job boys!! I appreciate your candor....especially when you didnt rate your own Mat, but posted a review from a different guy. Nice to see integrity is still a "thing" on-line in 2024!! I will become your newest Subscriber. Cheers!!!
Hi cmwilfred, We aren't able to guarantee that the Trackman iO will work well with SimBox enclosures since we don't sell SimBox. Our Carl's Place enclosures will work with the Trackman iO and our customer service team can work through your simulator build with you to ensure a Trackman iO setup with a Carl's Place enclosure would work in your space.
I have the ProTee VX as well and my club data seems more accurate than shown in this video. I think it sometimes will struggle if you hit a fat shot and the club digs into the turf. That may lead to some inaccuracies vertically on the club but regardless always seems accurate horizontally.
