I traded a Crosstrek Wilderness for an Onyx XT. I brought the CTW in for service and they had 0% APR on Outback and Forrester. I couldn't believe the difference. I could have went Wilderness Outback but I prefer the better fuel economy. I've been getting 31 MPG on the highway with the 2.4L Turbo!
I own one and my advice drive one before you buy one. The Crosstrek is not turbocharged so they are painfully slow. 0-60 times in minutes not seconds. The steering is number then your backside will be after seating for very long in the thinly pad seats. Also road noise is thing in the Crosstrek it has a very buzzy drivetrain accompanied by lots of tire and wind noise. Speaking of wind, crosswinds affect the Crosstrek also drafts caused by semis and large tracks will toss it around pretty good. It does have a lot of useful tech with multiple drive modes and it is competent off road and in the snow and rain but it demands a lot of sacrifice to get that little reward. Personally I would weigh out just how much I actually needed an adventure vehicle and then go buy something else. Anything else well maybe not a Jeep but anything else.
This car would be an even better purchase if it ran on Regular gas. If Hyunday can get 270 hp on their Kona/Veloster/Elantra N using Regular, Subaru should also be able to do it.
The main purpose of high octane gas is to prevent detonation that causes damage to pistons and other internal parts. As is detonation can still happen with 93 high octane fuel for various reasons like high heat. Most high performance cars that can run on regular 89 gas usually dial back the tuning automatically producing less power to prevent detonation. So if the driver intends to drive it normally it should be fine. But if the driver likes to push it most of the time it's recommend that they run high octane.
That's a weird take so I have to ask you what you consider as the competition? It's pretty much neck and neck with the GR Corolla for example and costs much less, even for a premium trim. Civic Type R? Same situation, and while you do get an lsd it's still only front wheel drive. The golf? Please...
In 2020... a brand new base wrx was 26k.... a brand new base STI was 36k.... then covid happend.... then joe happened and now a wrx is almost 40k?? 🤣 I would NEVER pay STI price for a base wrx lol.

Now it’s 32k, it was 29-30k but they added more standard features. See how inflation works? And equipment pricing happens Now use your brain and ask your price of cars in 2000…….

Really enjoyed the video. The WRX driving experience is way better than the numbers suggest. Very free reving, eager steering and confidence inspiring chassis/grip. It’s my daily driver in Dallas. Only complaint is running premium fuel for the HP. It means about an extra $40 a month. If that’s a major concern, the car isn’t for you. Wait until you look up replacement tire cost…. It comes with max performance summer tires and will likely need to be replaced between 10k-15k miles. Either way, love my ride and usually average 25mpg mixed driving.
I have a 2023 WRX. I like it but first gear is way too short. Second too. Mine gets 18 miles to the gallon with moderate driving. Mid range power is the car’s strongest point.
So the 24 has the same engine as my 21. Doesn't have manual AC controls, an spare tire, or an parking break "padel only" and the biggest letdown of all, not in manual transmission. Ill keep my manual, thanks Subaru.
