He made me laugh when he talked about all the bowing in Japan 😆 Ever since I started watching Japanese media and learning the language a few years ago, I catch myself doing small bows fairly frequently, but not nearly as often as they do in Japan.
I think it’s just Canadian accent. My mom is Japanese and lived in Canada and she said some stuff a little odd. Also since he was there for so long I think he’d even pick up an accent
