I get being a one brand tool guy for battery tools, but it's better to buy the best specific tool if it's corded. I can tell you for sure, this vacuum from DeWalt can't really compare with other vacuums. I got Makita vacuum (the best value for this price range), and it comes with 3 tool attachments, one small plastic type, one big and one small rubber type. The smaller rubber connector is shaped a way that it fits on EVERYTHING, no matter the brand, and the spare one is less then €15. Always look for the best value.
If you get a Dewalt dust extractor instead of the shop vac it comes with the right interface to fit on their tools. It’s an expensive way to avoid this issue.
SAME ISSUE! Thanks for making this video. I think I am ONE step closer to solving my issue, but I wish you would have gone into more detail about the DWV9190... Does it connect to the Rigid hose you mentioned? Will it connect to the hose that comes with your DeWalt vacuum? Would have loved some more commentary about those two systems and how well they play together. I have a Rigid vacuum, and I am desperate to get back to work on my project-Have already bought the "universal connector" (LOL) and will now place an order for the 9190 and hope it does the trick.
I believe it is this one. Its a little bulky though i find. Thanks for watching. www.homedepot.ca/product/ridgid-2-1-2-in-x-20-ft-tug-a-long-universal-locking-flexible-vacuum-hose-for-wet-dry-shop-vacuums/1000850418
Did you ever upgrade? If so what to. Video? Im looking at this size for my 20x22 garage... I was gogin to install natural gas heater but they wanted $3800 to run gas to my garage... insane! only 15 ft.
I forgot to ask. What separater (extended) hose did you end up buying? I am looking to extend the stock hose with something longer and sturdier. Recommendations, any more required adapters? lol
The hose i got was a 20ft hose...rigid I think. It came with adaptors. Its pretty awkward and bulky. Im going to switch it up this fall. Someone recommended a cen-tec hose which im gonna try.
The model number for that adapter is DWE575DC. Its not the 60v saw. I wish. They also make a flexvolt model which takes both 20 and 60 volt batteries. Thanks for watching!
@@northernoutlier ok thanks, I have both of the 60 Volt circ saws and the 60 volt track saw and only the track saw has the air lock dust collection built in but I want to get a little 3d printed port for my 60v
The small adapter is meant to screw directly onto a 1.25IN dust collector hose. It really is annoying - and that adapter *doesn't* fit the router dust collection adapters - that needs yet a different one that I don't think DeWalt even makes. I too am a big DeWalt fanbois with a ton of their tools, the best way to do this is order a Cen-tec hose kit with their "Quick-Click" hose attachment adapters. They have them to fit the DeWalt tools, and the hoses are MUCH nicer to use with handheld tools. You can get a kit with the hose and 5-6 adapters for less than $50. It comes with an adapter for the vacuum end of the hose too. More flexible, and you can get MUCH longer hoses. They sell individual adapters for every size connection you can imagine too for ~$5 each. . I have an overhead articulated boom arm with the hose running though it and a remote on-off switch for the vacuum at the end.
how stupid is DeWalt: Impossible to find the splitter for my dewalt contractors saw and meanwhile I have other brands of tools, including a rigid shopvac and now I'm looking at avoiding the dewalt 1/4 sheet sander just because of the adapter issue. pathetic for an otherwise good brand. Thanks for sharing.
This is mind numbing. Buying a dewalt shopvac to use with you dewalt saws and sanders and not being able to hook them up together is really something else 😑
Thing is thats a shop vac and their connection system is designed for the dust extractors. Shop vacs are not designed or intended for tool dust collection.
You have to take a look at CenTec. The best dust extractor connection system to fit all the different sizes on each tool. A set of 5 is about 25 and has 5 different sizes
I took the dust collector bag that came with the saw through the bag away and use the part that goes to the saw as an adapter and use the parts that you get at the store the multi adapters and made it work out pretty decent
The dewalt shop vacs arent made by dewalt, theyre made by alton, same people that make the stanley and porter cable vacs. Also the simple solution is just get a cen tec hose kit.
I haven't tried it but I know the wands come in different diameters. I don't know if there's a standard size. I would think as long as you look at the diameters and compare them, you could make that work.
For years I've just been putting my shop hose over the top of the first adapter 😂 always thought it was clumsy application never thought i needed additional pieces until i started using the drywall pole sander and the hose kept falling off 🤦 Thank you for the video
Thank you for your time and effort. However, I wish you could have connected to the stock DeWalt shop vac hose that came with yours. The female threads on the air-lock adapter do not fit. Frustration continues. Someone explained that DeWalt dust extraction units are why these adapters don’t fit the regular old shop vac hoses sold with DeWalt shop vacs.
Thank you, and in terms of the stock hose I really wish it was a smaller diameter hose. It's very awkward at times. I wish the whole process on hoses and adaptors was much clearer.
I just FINALLY discovered (after buying YET ANOTHER adapter). I Realized the adapter I bought to adapt the DW900 was threaded left handed. THEN I realized the DW900 had left handed threads in it. And Lo and Behold unscrewed the end off my Ridgid 1 7/8” hose (Also Left handed) and PRESTO. The DW900 threads right on to it PERFECTLY. NO other adapters needed. I face Palmed myself so hard I nearly needed the Paramedics.
@@northernoutlier I bought the “Car Kit” Hose for my Ridgid. It has a ten foot (very nice) hose and some not all that special attachments. (The Orange Hose). And that DW900 screws on there like a factory fit
So you can turn it on and have it run non-stop if you wanted. It also has a timer setting, so you can set it to run 1, 2, or 4 hours then it will turn off. I will say though that I have noticed that it randomly turns on at times. I have been looking into this and it has something to do with the frequency the remote is on I think. I have been meaning to do an update video on this, should be coming soon. For the price its a good unit, however, the issue of it turning on randomly is not something I like. In the future I will likely change it for something else.
Great Video! I totally agree! I’m a “DeWalt Guy” also! With that being said, I need a DeWalt adapter for my DeWalt DWE7485 Table Saw going into my DeWalt DXV09P Shop Vacuum? Help!
Ah good question. For that setup I am not sure what DeWalt adaptor you would need but you need it to reduce it from 2 1/2 inches (table saw) to 1 7/8 inches (vacuum) I think. You could use the setup I talked about however you would need a reducer off of those. Or you can get any old reducer adaptor. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
The original tyvek I put on had been on all winter and it was tearing at the top. I think because of having the ladder against rubbing. Thanks for watching.
@northernoutlier thanks! How has the siding held up being attached to furring strips? I know some have concerns about any waviness due to not having a solid surface behind. We're getting ready to side as well, and I have furring strips over exterior foam.
@@johnweninger The siding has held of great. No waviness at all. Just make sure your nailing in the center of the slot, and nailing so it's loose. Leave your gaps on the ends, and only overlap an inch or so and your good. I personally would want that gap just in case any moisture gets behind, then it can breathe a little.
I took a plastic gallon jug and cut the bottom off and trimmed to fit under the oil filter. No mess. Also use the pre-filter over the air filter so it lasts longer.
