We encourage using spaced repetition as part of your learning, so if you listen and identify some new words or phrases it might well be a good idea to write them down and include them in a spaced repetition learning plan. Then, at a later date, re-listen to our video and see if you've stored the new words in your long term memory :) I would keep the lists relatively small, 10-20 words/phrases. I hope this helps!
Hi Hilary, I really appreciate this episode and will use it in my informal English conversation group with international friends who aren't native English speakers. We are fans and grateful recipients of your podcast. Thanks for making much of your content free to us. I'm an American English speaker though I'm originally Malaysian and still have lots to learn in British English now that I live in England, so an episode like this is especially helpful! I do have a feedback on this episode. I noticed that many of the "wich" names have the "ch"-ending sound cut off prematurely when you were pronouncing them. I think it may be because of your automatic silence cutting feature? Thankfully at the end of the episode when you were going through the whole list, I could hear the "ch" sound clearly in each of the "wich" towns/places. Hope this is a helpful feedback! X
Hi there! It makes me happy that you and your conversation group are finding the content helpful. I appreciate your feedback regarding the pronunciation of the "wich" names. I’ll definitely look into that issue with the silence cutting off the word endings! I’m glad you could hear the "ch" sound clearly at the end, and I’ll make sure to pay closer attention to this in future episodes. Thanks again for your support and for being part of our podcast community!
@@jeantsen3428 I'm just working on tomorrows podcast :) All about the language of relationships with a twist! Take care of yourself and say hello to the group!
Really glad you enjoyed the podcast and found the findings interesting. It’s always nice to know when a topic hits home with people. Appreciate you taking the time to listen!
I like listening to your podcast and watching the video. Why do you show an old map of Europe with countries that do not exist any more (Czechoslovakia was separated in 1992 and Yugoslavia as well)?
Thank you for your feedback and for being a listener and viewer! The map we use is meant to evoke a sense of history and culture, which ties into the rich background of the English language. You're right about the changes in Europe’s geography. While some countries have evolved, the map serves as a visual tool rather than an up-to-date geographical reference. We appreciate your keen eye and will certainly consider this in future content!
Thank you for a great episode, just like all the others. I can really feel the difference with you. My listening comprehension has improved tremendously thanks to you. I listen to your episodes on my way to work and I really love it. Your channel is great because of the variety of interesting topics, the length of the episodes is perfect, you are interesting to listen to and watch. I am a big fan of yours. Thank you ❤!
Well that comment has just made my day, thank you :) As I've learned languages like French and German, one of the things I've always struggled to find is listening content that's just right. Just hard enough to challenge my learning, just interesting enough I want to keep listening. Reliable enough I can get what I need to improve over time. It's why I created Adept English, I know this type of listening works and I'm happy you found me :) Have a lovely day!
I am doing research on whether listening to English podcasts while running helps improve listening skills. This is part of my dissertation. I started this project about a year ago and couldn't find any previous research on this specific idea. The study is still in progress and I'm hoping for positive results. When I have all the research done, I'll share the findings :)
hello hilary iam a student because this podcast I improve my english thank you very much I wish everyone knows about this podcast 🤗🤗🤗this very helpeful have a wonderful day
Really good podcast! Thank you for reminding us which products should we avoid. Good point :) I'm from Poland and unfortunately we have all these products in the shops. I'm aware of what I should buy, but for others it will certainly be helpful. I really enjoy your channel. Best regards ;)
Personal opinion, but I believe that the inserted film clips distract the listeners. They break concentration and don't allow for focus. In my opinion, this is not the way to go. You win listeners and gain more audience with the content presented in podcasts. Here, you can not only listen to a pure British accent but also learn interesting things.
Thanks Hilary for this new interesting podcast. I understand the aim and the irony of the book. Now, it would be interesting to know if it really helps.
Greetings to you madam, I hope you doing well and healthy wherever you are. I'm watching your vedios from Pakistan right now, really helpful vedios ❤❤❤❤. Thanks 🙏.
I'm a long time-listener and I found in the recent two episodes includes some "sound clips". For me, a podcasts listener, I found them very annoying. 😢
