The fish i go for get spooked by seeing my rod over the edge of the water i just dont understand how the fish dont see that line whipping around above them and skedaddle
Because of the area I fish has so many trees and bushes hanging right over the water, I can roll cast far better than I can actually cast when I fly fish. It’s practically all I do
I learned to roll cast years ago, and I am glad I did. Being mostly a bank fisherman, roll casting lets me get in to spots I could not with typical casting. It also allows for slight casting in to the wind.
Not a fly guy, but great cast... you should try jigging for kokanee, so much more fun than trolling for them. Lucky Duck Fishing has alot of info on it.
