I wonder that nobody mentioned THRASH Metal. He wears a Thrasher-Hoodie and didn’t talk about Thrash. I really recommend the „Get thrashed“-documentary, where this special scene is light up. In the late 90‘s i was into the hardcore-scene in east-germany and during this time, i saw a lot of hardcore / metalcore and (sorry!) emo core bands. UNBROKEN was one of those special bands i still remember. Love.Life.Regret. Does anybody know what happend to them?
As a metalcore nerd, I can kinda see why elitists would hate this genre when all they hear is overproduced djentcore as opposed to OG stuff like this. I mean, even in the 2010’s people hated bands and called them “scenecore”
Oh no! Did you peel off the Made in Poland shrink wrap?! Whatever pressing I have CRANKS, sounds punchy as hell and may soon be as worn out as my Boston album that I bought in 1978. Can't seem to remove it from my turntable \m/..\m/ As OG thrash metal reissue vinyl goes, this is a must have.
The fanbases is insufferable they are equal parts psuedo intellectuals and whiny assholes who complain about gatekeeping while gatekeeping themselves. They band themselves are good musicians but kinda spotty songwriters, I'm a huge fan of bands like Dillinger and Between The Buried and Me who do the Genre Bending thing and i feel like they do it better. Vola is a great example of poppy meoldies being blended with metal elements and Loathe does the Post Metal Deftones thing better. The fanbase like alot of tool fans don't listen to a lot of other prog bands either Bands like Porcupine Tree, Karnivool, The Contortionist and Devin Townsend do the whole prog thing better. Add Tesseract into that group
For me, it was a friend who had Norma Jean - Oh God and Parkway Drive - Killing with a smile. Changed my life 😂 he got them after a similar type band came to our school and killed it. We were like, what is this style 😍
Chon has revolutionized the way I play guitar. I don't think there's anyone who quite sounds like them. Polyphia come close, but they don't give me the same emotional payoff
If I was you I would get a better turntable with a proper tonearm and needle. That player with that weak tonearm will hurt your nice new records. Its not ideal for them. Just trying to help
Found this looking for Chon again. I look every now and then with hope even though i know it won't happen. This band is such a tragedy. Ill be honest, i really regret not getting the bomber from the last album because it was such a cool jacket! One of the last tours to Philly, my friend accidentally managed to play smash in their bus with em, they lived aa chill as they acted, ill always miss then! Edit: forgot to add, they frequently popped in to the back sections of the audience after and before their sets! I wasn't gonna be that guy, but it was pretty cool noticing mario sitting 5 feet from me!
Erik done a QnA on insta acouple months ago, someone asked what happened, paraphrasing but he pretty much said they tried getting back into it after Covid/Restrictions and realised they didn’t enjoy it anymore
I don't get this metal core crap. How do you go from black flag/slayer to the devil wears Prada. Just trying to understand I grew up in the la punk/metal scene. All you hot topic kids were a joke to all of us. Yet now that I'm older I trying to understand you poeple now
The first Metalcore bands I heard were Unearth, As I Lay Dying, and Shadows Fall. I have a long history with metalcore, however I've only gotten into 90s metalcore/metallic hardcore in recent years. Unbroken, Harvest and Zao are good bands for anyone wanting to get into this era of metalcore
I agreed with every bit of that review, down to the detail of the piano flourish being one of the few enjoyable details of the album. I also kept hearing Imagine Dragons when listening to it. It keeps getting given the title of progressive metal, but it’s a pop band abusing a metal aesthetic.
Friendly, I'm sorry I found this so late, but thank you for re-educating me on top of educating me. I got a list of bands to check out to understand the sound, hopefully we get a part 2
As a fan, I miss CHON - but as a musician, I can't help but support them taking the time they need - even if it means CHON as a band goes the way of the vapor! Uninspired music is a disservice to the band and the fans: if and when the heart of CHON returns, we will see some amazing music from the guys again, and if the heart doesn't return, no one benefits from what would be merely forced music.
