Apparently Hudson allowed for some retro games to be played, a shame it apparently didn't let you do so but it seems there's at least one version out there that it does allows it as I saw a video of someone playing it.
If you're still in possession of this hardware, consider triggering the RSoD that the PSBBN has and uploading it, as there is no known footage of it online as far as I am aware. A screenshot of it was uploaded to a reddit post and can be found here -> i.redd.it/jsxv0ztfxec81.jpg
Memories, memories and memories... and what i always loved about the ps2 was the transparent glasses it looks so impressive for an ultimate year 2000 console (supercomputer)
Yes. In fact, the software used on the PSX DESR, if I remember correctly, is a skin running on top of the PSBB seen here. Early versions of the software don't have access to the game channels, but updating via CD-R or usb would add a "PSBB" option on the XMB, which loads these exact same game channels. Now, as to run the standard PSBB navigator? I don't know. It is 100% possible to install freemcboot on a DESR, so it shouldn't be that difficult.
@@arockfromspace I know I’m late but certain models of ps2 slim still have the connectors on the board you just gotta solder it back on also there’s an English translation for bb navigator now
The HDD I used to clone the PSBBN Image onto is a standard 1TB Drive. To be fair, I've also modded the network adapter to accept a SATA Drive rather than IDE.
I did this as well myself - was pretty cool seeing BBN for the first time in person since knowing about it and being promised it’d come stateside since 2004. But, as we all know that never happened - and we all got to miss out on the awesome features it had. Regardless, super cool and the music tipping software is really impressive, album art, covers, names and artist sorting - and the sound quality is lossless. Much better than the GameCube and Xbox dashes IMO, though the Xbox was pretty close.
Something I just found in my recommended I thought you would like: A PS Now menu walkthrough taken from 2005 when the service was still up. (Running on a PSX DVR) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JFAwSX3gzgo.html
Google is a good friend of mine :-) [can't share a link here for obvious reasons, But looking for "PSBBN+HDD OSD" should be a good start]. Oddly enough, I found this application (or at least this modified version of it) on a HDD image I intended to use for something else. It ended up not working for my needs, and I wound up reformatting, but not before I captured all the footage I could. If you are familiar with how to set up FreeHDBoot on a Hard Drive using WinHIIP and a hard drive image, as well as the ability to use a hard drive on your PS2, then getting it to work is as easy as writing the image to a blank Hard Drive and then installing the HDD into the network adapter of a FAT PS2. In my case, I'm using a modded adapter that accepts SATA Drives, but even if you use an unmodified one with an IDE connector, as long as you use a compatible HDD (From the list here: ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list) it'll work.
This particular modded version will work on all NTSC PS2 consoles when imaged onto a HDD. I can't say for certain about PAL systems but if it's anything like force-loading PAL games on NTSC systems via homebrew, I don't see why it wouldn't work
@@someguyplays4731 Do you know if this can be used from a SATA adapter and not a modified version of the official one? I heard it didn't have 48-bit LBA support so I ordered a smaller drive, but someone else told me they recall it doesn't work on a SATA drive at all and now I'm a bit worried. seeing as how you use a SATA drive here I'm wondering if you know whether or not it matters if its the official adapter, I'd also like to know if a network connection is necessary to even boot it. I couldn't really find this information and went right into buying another SATA drive without realizing this could be a problem.
