I love the lack of safety with this group. As the "illegal drone" pans out at the end, you can't see any other boats downstream... Yeah, real smart you western boaters aren't! And not wearing helmets in a fully loaded boat with oars flailing? That's even less intelligent 👎👎 Natural selection at it's finest!
Nice drone footage (and great editing, as well). That flow is a bit easier for the dory chute and fish ladder. It's usually hard for people to find the dory chute at lower flows, and you have to deal with the right rocks. I ran the dory chute in my loaded IK a few years ago at around 2000 and I ended up flipping to get out of that recirculation. That was crazy!
When I was younger [1970s] we did the falls and it was during low water! There was No chute without a carry, as there is in high water. Guys would set up all along the bank with tag lines and if you came up, once they could see you were still in a in the white water kayak, the next guy would take his run. It looked like a fifteen foot drop looking back over the shoulder. Nobody Died?
Love the video! Good example of throwing the blades back as you run the middle channel. I do hope that the drone is limited on the river. I just about shot one down at horseshoe bend one early morning because it was so annoying.
@@hukphin740 The drones are becoming a problem on the Gauley River in West Virginia too. People don't think that rules apply to them. I also gave this a thumbs down and don't recommend the channel anymore.
+Matt Bucceri USGS Data for that date shows flow@ 2400cfs nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?cb_00010=on&cb_00060=on&cb_00065=on&format=gif_default&site_no=14372300&period=&begin_date=2014-07-03&end_date=2014-07-03
The video demonstrates the viability of KAP in this age of drones. It also suggests how compact the festival area is as well as the degree of participation. It makes me think twice about going there to fly during that time.
Demunseed Sorry for the lag, I was looking for my post in your thread and never saw your reply here. Thanks a ton for the feedback, I'll be making that edit this week and will post my final cut.
Demunseed Thanks, that music took hours to find. My wife absolutely hates it, but I resisted her critique and am looking forward to getting this dialed in.
- excellent intro - excellent music - in order to cut clip length and maintain interest, cut the long clip and zoom into the same clip, or use ken burns effect and pan right or left on the clip. - zoom and cut to the "rhythm" or beat of the music. nice job.... grade: B demun
Thats a GOOD thing my friend.... Almost 85-90% of the videos Ive critiqued get C's D's and SEVERAL outright F'S!!! (I'm pretty honest when it comes to the ART of good videography). "Most" people either have it, or they never will.....
and BTW.... I was just a HAIR away from grading you an A- . The only reason i didn't was because you didn't cut that clip apart and zoom or ken burns it here and there.
Nice scenery David ! What set up did you use here ! This is a link that I find has some useful tips. Have a look ! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0WEeNeyobwE.html
footlaunch1 Why would I? Even those that know this site well haven't noticed. It really falls apart when there are people walking around or even worse would be car traffic.
Great video. I've ran all three options and have always wondered what it looked like from a birds-eye view. Thanks for your time in creating this video and for posting it for us to view.
