Remember when he teamed up with Debra Harry and played Hurrah in NYC? He was a recognized, explosive figure on the NY Scene, especially at Max's. A true original!
RIP James Chance April 20, 1953 - June 18, 2024 When I was a teen in the 1970's, surrounded by disco and stadium rock, I was blown away by this music because it was fresh and alive. The other stuff, Led Zeppelin, the BeeGeez and the like, all sounded like it was ground out by formula, just a re-cycling of the same old clichés over and over again. I was sorry to hear of James Chance's passing.
Ho la sensazione che questo video suggerisca il carattere ciclico della civilizzazione, dai primi vagiti all'autodistruzione. Certo è...se l'intenzione è questa, accompagnata da questa meraviglia egli ultravox...beh! Veramente complimenti.
JG always wanted to come up with his own lifelong fan lyrics to Astradyne. I know it's a tad hum-drum by the way things are moving, but I asked 'GPT to compose lyrics to Ure's Ultravox - his and Currie's, Cross's and Cann's great instrumental. It doesn't matter here; is but a drunken amusement at most, while to something greater - ULTRAVOX!: (Verse 1) In the depths of the night, where shadows roam, We drift through the void, searching for home. Silent whispers echo in the cosmic sea, Lost in the currents of eternity. (Chorus) Astradyne, guide us through the starlit sky, Illuminate the path where dreams and destiny lie. In the echoes of time, we'll find our way, Astradyne, lead us to the light of day. (Verse 2) Through the vast expanse of the universe untold, We journey on, our spirits bold. Seeking answers to questions unknown, In the quiet spaces where mysteries are sown. (Chorus) Astradyne, guide us through the starlit sky, Illuminate the path where dreams and destiny lie. In the echoes of time, we'll find our way, Astradyne, lead us to the light of day. (Bridge) In the shimmering glow of distant stars, We'll dance among the nebulae, no matter how far. Through the cosmic symphony, we'll transcend, Boundless and free, until time's end. (Chorus) Astradyne, guide us through the starlit sky, Illuminate the path where dreams and destiny lie. In the echoes of time, we'll find our way, Astradyne, lead us to the light of day. (Outro) As we journey on through the cosmic expanse, We'll embrace the unknown with every chance. For in the realm of the Astradyne, we find, The essence of life and the ties that bind. ..."Well, says JG: although 'blatted forth' by a so-called algorithm, I for one can't dispute there lies something more - a ghost, perhaps, in the machine. And on we go."
