Most malls are like this now. I would love to see a rebirth. It could happen, just like the stock market goes up and down, mall shopping could do the same. I miss malls. On line shopping is convenient and economical, but malls always had such a vibrant atmosphere, it was always a pleasure to shop in them. As for the town of Aberdeen, it’s been dead for years and years. If it ever has a chance of resurrection, somebody will have to get very creative, and the whole town will have to change its mindset.
When King and Pierce county assholes vote for killing timber/lumber jobs in favor of owls....this shit happens to timber/lumber communities. stay in you're own shithole.
Many things, an arcade the extreme fun center, sears, a music store and lesson place, and a bunch of locally owned shops with comic books and crafts. Real sad it's gone down. The arcade was the last to stay open until it closes on the 18th of August. I worked there and was able to go into the abandoned mall part and it's been completely torn apart by the homeless that would break in.

I like that this captures a fun weird halfway between the bizarre logic of night dreams and the lazy absurdity of daydreams. Like an interlude from a film about a guy who spends way too much time in his own head, developing a casual relationship with reality.

@@theysucob aberdeen is mostly the same like back then. more abandoned buildings, sidewalks being messed up, a lot more homeless people in the streets, more people being on drugs. its bad
Nice! I've got an older Model E, so it dates from between 1919 and 1924, and has the older wood and cardboard construction. I've really enjoyed using it, and I've even sold a landscape picture I shot with it. I've always tended to use the widest aperture when shooting with it, but I'm keen to try and make more educated use of the apertures available. It's a really, really basic camera, but surprisingly capable when used with a bit of care.
I just picked up from Brownie number 2 Model E last month. Looking forward to using it. I have used box cameras before my other one is an art deco 620 camera.
Ahh... the exact video that gave younger teenage me the courage to turn my own OptiPlex 990 into a relatively useable gaming system. I had always loved learning about computer tech, but I was worried that changing the parts of my PC would be a daunting task (wasn't even thinking of building my own PC at this point) since I'd never done such a thing before. Seeing the same model of PC as my own being upgraded in this video alleviated those concerns since I wasn't nearly as afraid of messing something up. I had the exact same specs as your PC apart from the RAM and mass storage (my OptiPlex had 16 GB of RAM and a bigger SSD). I even did the front Dremel surgery you did to your own OptiPlex - had to get my dad for that one. Fast forward a few years from 2018 to 2023, and I've built my own PC and my knowledge on PC's/tech in general has expanded considerably. I'm pretty much tech support for my family and friends now. I think it's funny that I was ever even scared of fiddling with my PC's hardware when it's really not that hard. The hard part was (and is) scrounging up all the money! I still have my OptiPlex somewhere in my parents' house. Though my current PC performs so much better and the OptiPlex's hardware being ancient and inefficient (and possibly unsafe, in the case of PSU which didn't concern me in the past) means it probably wouldn't be a good server either. Oh well. At least the price:performance ratio was quite good. Thanks for kickstarting this one random person's journey into the world of PC gaming.

Glad you like them. Ektar was designed to look like those classic slide films, from what I understand. Those scans were made on a crappy flatbed scanner too, so a good scan would look much better.

You were kinda rude! We have seen bad times in this little town but many of us saw it at it's high point when there wasn't a mall but downtown stores that where booming, there was another mall in town when this on was built both did well for years.Please go back where you came from!
I would like to point out every mall have there humble beginnings to their peaks and their decline and unfortunately their end I would say this mall was built in the late 1970’s to about early 1980’s by looking at how the mall looks and I would say it probably peaked or it’s heyday during 1998 to at least 2008 and after that it started to go down hill from there
I think the mall losing Kmart was a glimpse into the malls future when a mall loses one of their anchor stores and do not replace it with something else that is a tell sign of the malls future just like years later losing JC PENNYS and they replace it with the extreme fun center as a anchor place

It’s actually super disappointing that images come out so sharp like this. Given how old it is you would expect them to have designed a very wide aperture for taking pictorial style photographs, instead it takes sharper images and of higher definition than an iPhone 14 pro max lmao
Tip for removing stuck on thermal paste, use something plastic to scrape off the old thermal paste. It can be something like an old gift card or even a guitar pick. If you use a razor blade you could end up gouging the heat sink and damaging it
Just getting into my Brownie 2 now. After a few more advanced vintage cameras turned out to be very disappointing I was very surprised at the quality of this camera. Cheers from Scotland
