My staffy is from a rescue center. His stay there would have been horrific for him as he suffers from separation anxiety. But he is a really great dog who I would trust with any human.
I have been trying to adopt a staffie for months now in local Kennels in Northern Ireland, Being grown up with the breed from i was 12 years old (now 49) and kept getting turned down for a dog. Harder to adopt a dog than a child. I have now purchased a staffie pup from a breeder to the disgust of some people But i find it disgusting that i kept getting refused by the kennels etc.
I always wanted a staffy when i was a kid but my mum was alway afraid of them, when i left home an got my own place the very first thing i did was get a staffy & always had staffies since, the best all around breed out there, they are brilliant with my kids & just wants to kiss/lick everyone to death an play with friends or strangers young an old,,,,,so now, my mum although she doesn't have a dog she loved all my staffies i have had over the 35 years to the point she gets them weekly treats when she go's shopping,,,,,my mum will be the first person to tell anyone staffies are unfairly represented by the media,,,,she will not have a bad word said about staffies now! I have inherited a 12 month old patterdale terrier & this little rat can be a nasty piece of work sometimes, in the process of training this out of her at mo! It's the owner that's the problem not the breed!
Misunderstand because people don't get the Love, loyalty, and utter devotion they give so freely had 2 brother and sister close on 12 years and would not trade a second of there time , 🙄 😒 😑 😐 😉 😴 PS AND I HAD 4 YOUNG CHILDREN AT THE TIME PRICELESS 🙄 😉
I just got my staffie puppy he now 5 months and I did all my research on him etc and I owned a pity lab boy who passed in may ! So I'm familiar but just bc ur familiar doesnt mean you know the knowledge of staffies etc.. I rly rly try to educate people more on learn what your getting before you purchase the dog, make sure you can handle with your schedule n kids, that they get the exercise and burn out that energy etc and they re act worse if you yell commands they need a softer more direct tone... alot of staffies and terrier dogs are deff mis understood and he is right every single dog can be agressive ! My mom in laws blue heeler never socialized and so mean to everyone my baby staffy and my pit mix who passed so loving never any issues bc we know what the dog needs to grow and socialization and corrections are a must ♡ chew toys are a must along with education on them! Dont get these breeds if you dont know how to handle them or correct etc what they need is what I tell ppl bc we dont need anymore in shelters ♡
You would leave them with your children? You shouldn't leave any dog alone with small children, much less dogs renowned for not only their bite force but for how long they can hold their bite.
Unless it's pure from a reputable breeder then it's not a staffy. Calling mutts staffys is where the bad reputation comes from. No such thing as a free breed. You don't rescue a breed or adopt a breed. You purchase one to get the real traits. Saying staffys are at shelters is like saying theirs Ferraris at the junk yard.
I have American Staffordshire will be one on 14 of this month, great dog, 🐶 nothing like my Pit Bull I had, my sister says my Staffie is therapy to her!!!
My pal has 2 xl bullies and everytime I see them they come up to me wagging there tales and lick my hand lol when I see my neighbour's little jack Russel it barks the head off is wanting to bite my ankles off lol it's the little dogs what's got the anger aggression any dog can be vicious it's the owner that gets them like that it's not the dog itself love staffs and pitbulls there my favourite breeds really great family dogs if brought up right and not used to fight with other dogs
I wouldn’t say I was afraid of staffy, and similar type dogs, but I always used to be a little more wary of them than most other breeds. Now I encounter a lot of Staffys with my work, and can honestly say I’ve never come across a staffy that is aggressive or anything other than very friendly. That caution I used to have with the breed has completely gone away now, these dog’s are just as friendly as any other family dog and if not more so.
I have a staffy and he is my best friend and I will give anything up in the way rod to protect him I love him a reduculous amount, if anyone says there vicious most likely a Karen I just want to hit them
Had 2 staffies, first was a rescue - didn't get on with other dogs too well but loved people and was amazing with both my children even as new borns. He used to sit beside their baskets and keep an eye on them! Second is 13 week old puppy again amazing with the children.
