Typical British: Excited for mediocre accomplishments. If you consider an achievement to complete the steelwork in 1 year and 2 months, look at others from China for example and see how fast and efficient they build! They would build the whole thing in less than 1 year:))
Lionel floor marking is allowing ExCeL London to deliver more shows and drastically reduce its environmental footprint. We always welcome constructive criticism (it’s helped us get where we are!), however many of the comments on this video are misinterpreting Alex’s comments or ExCeL London’s current operational requirements. 1. The operational statistics mentioned in the video are based on ExCeL London's desired use-case of marking out a full venue show (88,000 sqm) in a single 8 hour shift or overnight. It is simply not possible to achieve this with a team of 3 - 4 personnel. It would take an equivalent hypothetical team of 40 - 50 manual workers, to match Lionel’s marking speed. 2. Show organisers are specifically requesting Lionel's clean and attractive marks, to facilitate carpet-less shows. This saves thousands of sqm of single-use carpet every show which is a considerable cost saving. We refer you to contact ExCeL's sustainability department to understand why more clients are choosing carpet-less shows with Lionel 3. Alex meant to say “save millions in sqm of carpet”, not millions of tonnes. But we can all agree that reducing the use of single use carpet is a good thing for the planet! 4. Different mark colours are extremely useful when marking multiple shows, months in advance (we do this often in Germany). Different colours can also be used to mark different contexts (rigging, service access points, MEP etc). Our clients love this marking flexibility.
So fly in 40 carpet fitters? From where? They all live in East London and come on the tube or if more needed from Birmingham in a car. No flights. Also the carpet is not single use. It all goes off to be recycled after the show. Its a polypropylene product that gets recycled back into pellets that then get re used. Ive seen it and its part of the agreement! Also the people that your trying to put to sleep need to feed their families! When they are all gone wheres the money going to come from to pay for the services? As for sustainability how come your happy to be on the pay roll of the oil industry? Really bad video. Box ticking exercise full of untruths is what I think!
You've made misleading claims here, most of them regarding sustainability. You've said that using the robot eliminates the need to fly in 40 or 50 workers. As far as I know, all of the Excel mark-outs are completed by 3 or 4 guys. How is using an electric battery-powered robot more sustainable than a few guys doing this manually. Everyone knows the environmental impact of extracting the rare metals that are necessary to make these batteries. As for the carpet, that's nonsense. The floor marking has absolutely nothing to do with carpet. It's a separate process. Every time I've worked there, the floors at Excel are in a terrible state from general wear & tear. It looks as though the floor has been freshly painted in the video. What are you going to do the rest of the time? Paint the aisles between the stands the night before a show opens?
Also, could you please explain what you mean by "save millions of tonnes in single-use carpet"? I don't see how changing from humans to a robot will "save millions of tonnes in single-use carpet". It's essentially doing the same job. How will that affect the use or non-use of single-use carpet?
Unless Lionel is capable of colouring the floor space of the stand after it’s marked corners and then the separate gangway a different colour it does nothing different to it being done manual. It certainly does not save the millions quoted as carpet is an added extra by the organiser of the shows. Also good luck Lionel marking over the racing track on the south side 🤣
Please explain how lional can save millions of pounds? As someone who regularly does markouts in Excel I can tell you that Lionel will replace what we do manually but nothing else. The floor marks will at best be the same as what we do. We mark out the stands then the carpet is optional. The marks are for where the stands and gangways are. Please explain the outrageous claim that lionel can save millions and eliminate the use of single use carpet as all he is doing is what we do by hand?
Don't waste your money!! This is not an exhibition, just an over priced experience for children. We were mislead by the website into thinking this was something for all ages. How wrong we were! Firstly be aware that upon arrival they force you to have your photo taken so that they can make even more money out of you! We were not happy about this so jumped over the barriers they make you walk through. We were not going to give into their pressure selling! The so called exhibition is a series of approx 9 rooms. 4 of these rooms were holding areas to allow the crowds to catch up before going into the next room. My husband and I spent our time waiting in the holding rooms on our phones looking bored along with another group of younger visitors who were aged approx in their 20's. The remaining 5 rooms were shows with actors who just looked embarrassed when we were there as they knew this was for children! The whole "exhibition" is for children as it contained sandpits , simple touchscreens with no info on for fans of the films and actors with puppets of baby dinosaurs. Please do not waste your money if you are aged 30+ like us and massive fans of the films this is NOT for you. We feel so cheated as the promo video and website showed adults our age there so assumed it would be something we would enjoy. The only thing accurate on their website is that it takes 1 hour to walk round. Turns out the most expensive 1 hour of my life! Even booking our parking tickets was a nightmare and the staff could not give us straight answers when we contacted them for help. Upon arrival staff on the gate did not give us directions (lucky the traffic office was there) but even upon entering the massive car park there were no clear internal signs to find the exhibition hall. We have contacted Fever and asked for a refund as we were mis-sold according to their website but they told us that tickets are nonrefundable. We feel cheated out of alot of money so please learn from our mistake and do not go! I will never give Fever my money again!
