I would also like to talk about that underlying racism towards the Chinese. Basically just, after Don Rafael's death, Padre Damaso would dig up his coffin to transfer it to a cemetery for Chinese immigrants, or intsiks as the story calls them, but it doesn't go through and Don Rafael's coffin is thrown into a Laguna de bay instead.
