I’m surprised no ones congratulating them on their impeccable horn angles, those horns weren’t bouncing and they were a perfect 10-15 degrees up for stadiums, sometimes higher like 25 if you have to play for big stadiums

I’m surprised everyone is saying completely different things, I’m in highschool and in my schools marching band we don’t slide like they are at all, we slide like how dci groups and a lot of high schools have moved to, you keep your legs completely straight as you march basically and you use your step as a roll heel,arch,ball,toe. You roll your feet and keeping your legs straight means keeping your feet low to the ground. So you glide across the field instead of stomp all over the field, and you make clean movements, and even sideways you glide with straight legs, that style in the vid is used for battery and that’s it

i was shown this last season when our director taught us jazz running, and im just now realizing this is phantom! i got to see them irl recently, and worked with their directors, and i cried, my favorite dci band ever. the only reason i recognized it was because of phantom 3rd! Most bands stand at attention in first position, but phantom stands in third, thus being called “phantom third.” anyways, their directors are super cool people and i learned a lot that day!

The guy with a white hat and long hair, (the farther white hat guy ) looks like he must be an upperclassman or experienced, because he has good form and his band hands are correctly held high

If you claim you want we well rounded.percussion section, teach both… it’s that simple some, may want to go on and march DCI or College, but then then when they go that route. That are behind and get stuck in ensemble because they were never taught Traditional. Why not give them a hand up in that area.
@thunderman21
@thunderman21 4 месяца назад
Tilted drums have been a thing for a while now… at lease since the late 90’s. Our snares marched that way in Texas… However we did have DCI instructors.

No offense, but I hate this band becuase of what they do. First off they use speaker s for sound effects wich is not marching band things. And second they do not march, all they do is just move around and call it marching.

Marching band is extremely tiring sometimes, the main effects being sleep deprivation and heat exhaustion. The longest I have ever been awake for continuously for a competition was 23 hours straight off of 2 hours of sleep. Also half of the low brass was depressed, and about a quarter had considered selbst mord.
@Doomted90
@Doomted90 8 месяцев назад
As a former marching band member, I approve. Not only is every practice an extreme workout, usually in long sleeve heavy wool uniforms and carrying a 30lb chunk of metal everywhere, but if ANYONE in formation messes up, you get to run drills the rest of the day!

Fun fact marching bands have mandatory water breaks by law and many marching band members will throw up or suffer from heat exhaustion (and very rarely heat stroke) in other ways during practice. The practices are usually around 3 hours long, everyday. Marching band camp is 2 weeks long with days being around 13 hours long. Some marching band competitions are extremely long and band members are expected to be able to still compete effectively after being awake for 21 hours straight even if operating on only 3 hours of sleep due to having a football game the day before.

You’d be inclined to have that opinion, but if you’ve ever even tried playing an instrument in general, much less at the level these guys do, you’d quickly notice that it would take years upon years of your life to even get close…
@Elloliott
@Elloliott 8 месяцев назад
Would you rather it be alive? It’s hard enough to breathe when you’re running for football, but now you have to breathe and play an instrument which it sounds like you’ve never even thought of
@uuq141
@uuq141 8 месяцев назад
No. There are a lot of different variables when it comes to playing and marching. Marching required muscles that you don't usually use so they usually hurt really bad. I marched drum corps this year and there were 3 four hour blocks. One just visual two music visual combined. You get a 5 minute water break every like 30 minutes. It's just like this video 180 steps per minute sometimes (bpm) and you have to have strong air support constantly which engages more muscles you don't use a ton. You cramp up a lot and use a lot of energy. The typical drum corps tour starts June 3 and ends August 8 to twelfth which is just this every day almost non stop except for traveling

I dont think its a sport because theres not competition but to say its just blowing into an instrument is just retarded.
