Your Crawl Space Guys are the ones to call when you have crawlspace issues. Out of sight - out of mind crawl spaces are usually the most overlooked area of any home. Mold, rot and water damage are just a few of the issues that can crop up in this area if left unattended.
Foundation repair We repair existing foundations, install full perimeter foundations, and replace old, dilapidated foundations. Many old homes have inadequate depth in their crawlspaces. We do dig outs and remove the soil to create adequate depth and spacing. We also can jack up and level old, crooked homes. We are a family owned division of American Remodeling LLC with nearly 25 years experience working In Yamhill County and Its’ surrounding areas. We do cater to real estate agents. Dry rot? Water in your crawlspace? Sump Pumps? Structural failures? We have an expert team that will perform the repairs and leave you with peace of mind.
The house appears to be sinking because you have a soils issue. There is an issue with the soil that is causing the house to sink or move laterally you’re trying to repair it as a construction defect it would appear. That will not work long-term the crack happened because the curtain wall sunk. reinforcing the existing curtain wall and amending the footing will only add more weight to the problematic soils.
Very hard working crew here! Wish you guys were in Illinois! My crawlspace is impossible to work in. It needs to be dug out. Great video. Thanks for showing.
Just a suggestion. Instead of a tapered wooden wedge that is impossible to properly fit between the top of the old footing and the plates. A nonshrink concrete grout would have been a beter solution.
Lisa, yes, foundation jobs are where we get the most return on investment in all honesty. But by pouring a new foundation and the partial dig out, we are completely changing the environment under homes from damp, tight spaces that smell of mildew and compromise the structural longevity of the home above. Sometimes people look at the price, get a few bids and decide to tear it down baby! But many times, these homes hold sentimental value and we want to help Oregonians and our Washington neighbors preserve their homes for many many decades to come. Pro Tip: There are some great 0% interest if paid in full unsecured finance options out there!
Hi Matthew, clear plastic vapor barrier tends to have a slightly thicker membrane and folds differently than a typical black poly 6 mil. Pros would include esthetics (it just looks cleaner) and it is slightly thicker. We are happy to use either or, however the clear plastic unfolds awkwardly and is more labor intensive and therefore more expensive. We have found that in most every instance, the black 6 mil poly plastic vapor barrier is lasting as long as it claims and is more pleasant to install. Hope this helps!
A common suggestion, while we do like the country dirt road-feel good vibe, we appreciate the feedback and will be making some changes to our upcoming videos. Thank you!
I think this is what they would have to do with my house sadly :( i hear my wallet sobbing. It's an old ww 1 or 2 house that was moved to where it is now and only has brick pylons underneath with stucco on the outside.
Do you live in the area? We’d be happy to come provide a free on-site assessment for you! Additionally, it’s always a good idea to get at least 3-4 quality bids for these jobs. We do negotiate at times but our prices tend to be lower than our big name competitors and higher than new contractors with less experience. Pro Tip: Don’t fall prey to shady sales techniques that rely on fear and immediate signatures. Always get at least a second opinion to protect your wallet from being taken advantage of!
You don’t like my banjo playing? 🤣 No in all seriousness I know, we have heard you and will update accordingly. Feel feee to come check out our upcoming videos and let us know how we did!
Watched a guy do this to his own house years ago, but he didn't have the $$ to hire it out. The guy and a few friends dug each corner of the home out to 8 ft. (was a crawl) and supported the place on 6x6 timbers. Poured a proper footing and a week later installed block on each corner. (one corner per weekend) That part took another 2 months and a LOT of beer / pizza. At the 6 month mark they had closed in the other walls, except for what would become a Bilco door, which was left as a ramp because they were hand digging to make a full basement. Somewhere around the 9 month mark they poured a pad area for the furnace and well tank. They continued to dig intermittently over the winter and finally poured the floor about a year after starting. Recalling at the start they jig rigged all the plumbing on rubber hoses and bungee cords so they could jack the place level and raise it 6 inches to work. They even connected the sewer line with a section of tire tube so the guy could live in the house the whole time. Not a big house... maybe 1400 sq ft.
I know of a House that someone jacked up to make a basement and had supports on the four corners and the house fell into the hole. No one was hurt but the house was eventually torn down.
I just bought a fixer with foundation problems and this is exactly the cure I'm looking for. Can you guys come to the Bay Area in CA? I would love to speak with you. Please message me.
Wow.. i need this now.. damn Oak trees.. just cut up like 30feet of roots with chainsaw and dug up , by hand on 1 side of my home! Then added drain pipes to run water away from home. I know this cost over $10,000 to do.
Anywhere between $30,000 to $50,000 is about average. It depends on how complex, large, full or partial, etc. It's not cheap but will save the $150,000+ sitting on top of it. It is not something you want to try yourself especially if it is the whole foundation being replaced. Make sure you research the company and they are legit professionals.
Haha, good one jess. It is pricey, and we are terrible about responding to comments on youtube. If you want info it's definitely better to call or email us. A full foundation replacement can be very expensive. You can spend $50k pretty quick. But yes, it does depend on the size of the job and how difficult it is.
Hi there, each house is unique with their own issues and we have to estimate accordingly. If you want to give us a call at 503-980-1564 or email office@yourcrawlspaceguys.com we can get an accurate quote and a free estimate going for you. We are one of the highest quality and most affordable companies around I can say though.
Like a tree bending in the wind, its okay for a house to be able to settle after an earth quake. Brackets will bind you up, like turning too tight in a 4wd.
This is pretty slick. What do you guys do with not so nice crawl spaces where you literally have to crawl? Going down into my crawl space at best you are on your hands and knees, at worst your army crawling because there is so little clearance.
We get 'er done, but its not as fun and you can't get a nice camera down to film it lol. We're not afraid of tight spaces-sometimes we dig our way in...
