I appreciate the video updates. Hard to find any long term video reviews for this vehicle. I’m near cedar and have been tossing around the idea of purchasing one. 2017 limited plug in hybrid with 45k
@@warn3535 First asking price is 15k, what do you think? (Before phec Tax incentive and PPI) Car is sick and just what I want but it seems like nobody has it long term and is always hating on Hyundai

Oh wow. You actually watched into this a bit. I hope women like my traits. I feel that i am a pretty down to earth guy. I am the most transparent person you will ever meet.
248k car is currently in the dealership for a check brake warning, which we had a few years ago and we needed a $1000 part, so ill make one last video when he gets the car back and then we will probably just scrap it
Hey I got a 2012 sonata hybrid with 96k miles and it only gets about 25 mpg. I thought it was the hybrid battery going bad but when I took the car to get recalls done they preformed some tests and the hybrid battery passed the test. I have a suspicion its because of a bad 12v battery. the 12v battery is 6 years old and have sat for a whole year without usage because the car needed a transmission repair because I hit something on the road that destroyed the casing. Do you think the bad mpg is caused by the bad 12v battery? I also get a yellow wrench light on the dash here and there but it goes out when I restart the car. The wrench light means its a hybrid system fault according to the owners manuel.
Figure out the hybrid system fault, most likely an issue with the way the engine is running, either an issue with the rod bearings, or the ignition coils or spark plugs, those can cause the engine to not run optimally
@@warn3535 The engine passed the inspection when I took it to get the knock sensor recall done. However they told me the car needs new spark plugs. Could that be the issue?
@@warn3535 You are right. I just changed my spark plugs and they had a lot of carbon build up and a bit of sludge. My mpg went back up to 35. Thank you so much!!
I'm surprised the previous owner was able to get the engine replaced under warranty at 107k miles, I thought Hyundai only did that under 100k miles. I'm assuming it was under some extended warranty campaign because Hyundai has a bunch of those. Great video tho!
I have a couple of questions if you dont mind me asking. 1. Do you hear a weird buzzing/humming sound coming from the engine bay, specifically coming from above the front driver side wheel inside the engine bay when unlocking the car when its cold (Like in the morning before going to work after the car sat all night). I can also hear humming/buzzing sound coming from the brake pedal when I depress it when the car is off too. 2. Are your brakes really touchy/sensitive? On mine, the brake lights activate when the brake pedal is like pushed a hair down, if not even less. And the car starts slowing down as soon as you tap the brakes very lightly. 3. Have you ever had to deal with the wrench symbol on the dash? It lights up sometimes and goes away when restarting the car, but if i keep driving with it the hybrid system warning light comes on with the check engine light on. When I hooked up obd scanner, no codes popped up so I just erased it. For reference the car sat for a whole year without ever being started once which caused the 12v battery to be damaged, not even considering the fact that the 12v battery is also 6 years old. Could the 12v battery be the cause of the wrench light popping up and triggering the hybrid system warning on the dash? Oh I forgot to mention I own a 2012 sonata hybrid with 100k miles. I would appreciate your feedback!
1. Yes its normal. It is your brake pump priming, you will hear kind of a hum for about a second or two when idling, when you walk by the car even when it is off, or when you start it up, completely normal noise, this 2013 hybrid does it and my 2017 hybrid does it as well.
2. Yes, the brakes are ridiculous in both of my sonata hybrids, thats because you have regenerative braking for your hybrid system, which is your electric motor spinning backwards and charging the battery, also your friction braking which is your brake pads engaging, so yes, touchy brakes are normal because you have two braking sources. And 3. Your hybrid light will come on randomly if your 12v battery is low or dead. Grab a voltage tester, set it to dc, probe the battery in the trunk, anything under 11 volts means the battery is bad. And 6 years and sat for a year, your 12v battery is toast, guaranteed. Normally the light would come on right when you start the car.
I don't blame hardworking folks who dare NOT touch any Kia or Hyundai vehicle. With the massive bill they shouldered from the engine failure/engine fire fiasco plus other major safety recalls, guess who will foot the bill eventually?
Well.. my psycho mother forced my dad to get a new car asap and stop driving her second car, so he had no choice but this 2013 sonata hybrid back in 2021 with 159k miles on it, luckily for my dad, it well outlasted what it was worth.
The power port is most likely a blown fuse. The 2.4 is direct injection, you can tell due to the throttle body being at the bottom of the engine. Has the throttle body been cleaned?
Exact same happened to mine. In my case, towed to the dealer, they cleared the codes and no more issues. What is sad is I had my code reader with me and did not think to try clearing them.
This was my dads sonata hybrid. Only reason this happened was because the hsg belt snapped, it was never replaced, replaced the belt and issue never came back, now at 241k miles
Here is a piece of korean crap. A hyundai sonata hybrid year 2017, been thru more motors than harry styles has been women. 3 engines to be exact, pings and rattles super bad, did a gdi cleaning twice now and each time it knocks like this, not sure whats next, another engine?? We will find out.
My grandma had asked me to take this old satellite dish off the roof 3 1/2 years ago from today and instead of just taking it off the roof and throwing it away I thought I’d make a skit out of it where she pretends that she didn’t want me to do it And she gets super mad and has me throw it in a pile of garbage where 3 1/2 years later the satellite dish still sits in the same spot. Aren’t we such good actors?
The fridge door handle has been broken off for many many years and is still broken off to this day on this day in 2020 I tried super gluing the door handle back on. Instinctively I knew the handle would rip off as soon as I tugged on it, so I thought I’d make a funny skit out of it and, of course my grandma helped me.
